Transport Help UK Ltd is now over 25 years old, the company’s financial year ends at the end of November, we have decided to close down the limited company, but I will continue trading as a consultant as a sole trader.
Thanks to you all for your support over many years 😊😊😊

Hi to all of you with O licences a development our friends at DVSA seem to sending emails to any operator who is registered as RED on the compliance risk scoring system. Don’t panic if you have received an email saying β€œ Your licence is at risk”
It’s NOT this seems to be a Computor generated system ! With little or NO personal involvement 😀😀

Today 9 September 2024 is the final day for us older drivers who originally had 5 years of Driver CPC qualification given as grandfather rights.
I suspect many of you will have made the decision NOT to renew the qualification.
Happy retirement to you all πŸ‘ and thank you πŸ™πŸΌ for the years of service to our industry

A bit of sense, just published today 11 December πŸ‘

Driver CPC consultation results published
Today (11 December), the Department for Transport (DfT) has published its response to the consultation on proposed changes to the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC).

The consultation ran earlier in the year to gather views on measures to make it simpler to become and remain a professional driver in the UK. The recommendations from the government include:

introducing a National DCPC (N-DCPC) that will cover driving a lorry, bus or coach in the UK
allowing training courses to be done in blocks of 3.5 hours rather than the current 7 hours to allow greater flexibility
Increasing the amount of e-learning that can be done to 12 hours.
These changes will only apply to the N-DCPC for driving a lorry, bus or coach solely within the UK.

The intention is to introduce these changes in summer 2024. The full response has been published on GOV.UK.

Those wanting to drive a lorry, bus or coach outside of the UK will need to complete the training within the existing rules which will not change from 35 hours of training every 5 years.

Making it easier to return to driving
The government is also looking to speed up the process for drivers whose DCPC has run out to return to driving a lorry, bus or coach in the UK.

This would be by allowing them to take 7 hours of training before returning to the sector and making the remaining 28 hours up within the first year.

This would only be for NDCPC and is not expected to be introduced until 2025.

Further consultation
The consultation also asked about the introduction of a periodic test to take the place of training. Further consultation is needed on this option which will be launched in the new year.

Hi to all, its been a while since I posed here, something has come to my attention over that past weeks, and its the way in which DVSA are operating, particularly with road side stops, I'm being told by operators that when their vehicles have been stopped, and let go seemingly with no roadside enforcement action against drivers or vehicle conditions prohibitions. Potentially none compliance Reports being made, and after about two weeks the operators are getting "Remote Enforcement" requests to provide digital raw data for extended period (Three Months) and to compliant extensive questioning documents !
Please, all of you be warned, if you get such a request, they often result in unsatisfactory referrals for further action !!!
A suggestion, It may help to ask your drivers if they are stopped, to request a clearer inspection report from the roadside officers.

It’s been a while, an issue that has recently come to my attention, that may be relevant to small limited companies and the changes to allowances and the way directors can take remunerations.
I have been made aware of several small transport limited company, getting horrendous Corpoation Tax bills. That in my opinion canot be right, I know of a two vehicle franchised haulage contractor having a 14k corporation tax bill 😫😫😫 this must be wrong !
