Touring around snowcapped Wyddfa (Snowdon) over the weekend, with our guests from Staffordshire!

'Y Wyddfa' is the official name since 2022 which means The Tomb. The English name 'Snowdon' was first recorded in 1283 when Edward turned Snowdon into the official adminstrative term for the region.

Y Wyddfa is 1,085 meters and the highest peak in Wales & England. It has 6 main paths including a narrow gauge steam train which travels to the very top. The summit houses a cafe which you can grab a 🍻 and 🥧!

Mynydd Parys Mountain was the largest copper mine in the world during its hay day 18th century! Its history goes back over 4000 years to the Bronze Age.

Thomas Williams manufacturing processes saw him sell copper to the British Navy. It was made and introduced to protect the naval fleet’s ships from timber worm and barnacle growth. This decision turned out to be positive for the fleet, as it made the ships far more manoeuvrable and sea worthy in comparison to their counterparts French and the Spanish!

This is the viewing point South of the mine. Looking stunning today with the moody skyline!
