To celebrate our 55th birthday, today we launched a new, refreshed livery. This is only the 3rd livery in over half a century, so a big thing for Elddis.

Livery 1 - 1971 to 1998 - The story goes that Geoff Cook and Bob Whinney were discussing the livery and wanted something that would stand out from the crowd. While having this discussion a VW Camper - Yellow with a white roof went by, so the original Elddis livery owes its history to an early hippy van with a white stripe added

Livery 2 - 1998 to 2026 - The entire fleet was changed to 100% Mercedes in 1998 and there was an option to get the trucks painted during production so a slightly lighter yellow (Mercedes Maize Yellow) allowed us to do this. The opportunity to refresh the livery was also taken at that time.

Livery 3 - 2026 - The basics of the Elddis brand remain (yellow cab, white bumper, white stripe and white roof) but taking advantage of the advances in vehicle wrapping to update it.

So based on current history we should be due to update this again in around 2054.

You may also notice Y55 ETL in the line up which recognises the 55th birthday. These are the first 3 of 15 hitting the road in the next 3 months.

A few photo's of our first Willowburn Charity truck. Back in 2007 it attended the Cart Marking Ceremony at the Guildhall in London. A tradition that goes back over 500 years. The Lord Mayor of London "Marks" the cart by branding them with a branding iron, which allows them to work within the boundaries of the city of London. An old fashion tax disc in its simplest form.

This week Elddis celebrates its 55th Birthday, with the business starting on the 6th September 1971 with 6 second hand trucks and 11 trailers. From those humble beginnings to a current fleet over 160 vehicles, 340 trailers and 7 operating sites and depots. Over 320 staff are the core of Elddis providing exceptional service to a large range of customers. One of the customers we started with on day 1 is still one of our top 10 customers today, there won't be many businesses that can say that.

The photo is Elddis's first ever brand new truck, a proud day for the business. We have always prided ourselves as being a family business at heart and if you look closely you will see Elddis's current Executive Chairman sitting on the bunk aged 4, with his 2 year old sister in the passenger seat.

Another one from the Archives. Our Charity DAF Rigid, with an unusual load at Corbridge Rugby Ground. This was the second vehicle to hold the W111OWH registration raising money and awareness for Willow Burn Hospice in Co. Durham. The number plate was later auctioned at an event raising money for the hospice.
