With the UK emergency phone alerts that are taking place on 23rd April, people with a secret phone hidden for domestic abuse emergencies etc need to take precautions.

Even if your phone is on silent, the emergency alert will still make a sound.

You need to disable the alarms. This is a quick guide.

Steps for Android users:
1. Go to the settings app of the Android device
2. Search for ‘Emergency Alerts’ using the search bar at the top of the screen
3. Click or tap on the first option that pops up
4. Once in the device’s Emergency Alerts settings page, turn off Emergency Alerts by pressing all the toggle buttons (blue means on, grey means off)

Steps for Apple users:
1. Go to the settings app of the Apple device
2. Scroll down to find and click or tap on the ‘Notifications’ tab
3. Scroll all the way down again to find a dedicated section for Emergency Alerts
4. You will see ‘Extreme Alerts’ and ‘Severe Alerts’ buttons, but this sometimes varies depending on which iPhone or Apple device you are using.
5. To turn them off, press all the toggle buttons (blue means on, grey means off)

The housing market is to remain open during lockdown in England, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has confirmed.

We can still move house your property the housing market will remain open throughout this period. Everyone should continue to play their part in reducing the spread of the virus by following the current guidance. Our team will be using ppe and will have plenty hand sanitiser on our vans. Also please keep fresh air circulating around and when we are in rooms please vacate that room or property. Please see our covid terms and conditions on our website.

If you are currently not supported and need some help with shopping, a prescription collection or a friendly chat then our NHS Volunteer Responders are ready to help.

Please note, you should only get in touch if you fall into one of the following categories:

People aged 70 years and older with underlying health conditions

If you are in the ‘extremely vulnerable’ to COVID 19 group and have been sent a letter asking you to shield from the virus

People who are pregnant

If you are newly socially vulnerable as a result of COVID 19

People who are registered disabled

Others with high-risk conditions could include:

People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma

People with serious heart conditions

People who are immunocompromised including because of cancer treatment

People of any age with severe obesity e.g. body mass index (BMI) over 40

Certain underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled, such as those with diabetes, dementia, renal failure, or liver disease might also be at risk

If you meet any of these criteria and need help collecting shopping, medication or other essential supplies or just want a telephone ‘check in and chat’ to help prevent loneliness, please call 0808 196 3646 (8am to 8pm)

As someone with caring responsibilities, you are able to make a referral for someone that you care for that meets the above criteria. You can also make a referral for yourself, if this support helps you to continue in your caring role. Please call us on 0808 196 3646 to make a referral.
