A PLAN, A TEAM AND A 36-TONNE CHALLENGE! ⚓

This week, the vessel Aliunde, salvaged from the Beaulieu River area, arrived at Kingston to be brought ashore. Island Cranes were on hand, but when it became clear the vessel couldn’t be lifted directly from the water as planned, our Kingston team stepped in with an alternative solution.
The plan? Our team used the hoist to lift Aliunde from the water, allowing Island Cranes to take over from there.
The vessel was expected to weigh around 22 tonnes, but with mud accumulated onboard, the actual weight came in at a whopping 36 tonnes – even after the salvage company had already removed a substantial amount of mud!
It’s a great example of the teamwork, practical experience and problem-solving that make Kingston Boatyard such a valuable resource.
