This year, 2026, marks a truly special milestone for us — 100 years of Fergusons!

From our original 1926 bean truck — where the journey began — to our brand-new 2026 tractor unit, out on the road for the very first time today and proudly carrying our centenary livery, it really has been a century of progress, resilience and innovation.

A lot has changed over the past 100 years, but what hasn’t is who we are at our core — a family-run business built on hard work, trust, and always looking ahead to the future.

BAR's Response to the Autumn Budget 2025

Today’s Autumn Budget offered limited direct support for the removals and storage sector, with only a small number of measures that will make a difference to operators in the short term. The extension of the 5p cut in fuel duty to September 2026 is welcome and reflects what BAR has been calling for. However, we are concerned about the Chancellor’s intention to increase duty after that point, which would hit businesses in our sector hard, as well as the consumers we serve.

Support for under-25 apprenticeships is a helpful step, but wider reforms we have consistently raised - including action on VAT evasion, fairer business rates for storage and logistics premises, and support for operators without viable zero-emission fleet alternatives - were missing.

Andrew Large, Director General of BAR, said:
“While the Budget contained some helpful measures, it falls short of delivering the targeted support our industry urgently needs. We will continue working with Government to push for practical reforms that ensure a level playing field and support investment across our sector.”

BAR will keep engaging with ministers and officials to ensure the challenges facing compliant businesses are fully understood and addressed.

Moving home and all that involves can be a 'bit of a nightmare', and when it's a Friday move problems with the transfer of money between solicitors can result in the handover of keys being delayed by hours or even days
