On the farm, our nanny goats recently gave birth to their kids, with three sets of triplets and two sets of twins keeping them very busy!

Enjoying spring and summer days out in the fields, they graze our hedgerows and live a life of luxury in a paddock attached to their barn, so they can come and go as they please; particularly during rainy weather, when they love coming in for a bit of much-needed shelter.

We pride ourselves on rearing livestock on a 100% pasture-fed system.

Grass-fed diets benefit not only the animals, but their environment too, as the meat that we produce contains less total fat and higher levels of conjugated linoleic acid, vitamins, and minerals.

Plus, grazing the countryside on a natural diet allows each animal to express their natural behaviours, while being much less likely to suffer from diseases or require veterinary attention and antibiotics; all as they give back to the soil below by fertilising as they go!

Which breeds do we work with at Paley?

For our flock of 200 ewes, we’ve had several graze the farm’s fields over the years, from our Romneys and Dorset Downs to Mules and Suffolk crosses.

More recently, we’ve discovered the Easycare ewe, whose natural maternity and ease of lambing has had a hugely positive impact on how we lamb outside in the months of spring and winter.
