This time last year, The Greatest Gathering was well underway and what an incredible weekend it turned out to be!

Thanks to the support of exhibitors, volunteers, partner organisations, sponsors and the almost 40,000 visitors who attended, together we raised more than £100,000 for Railway 200 partner charities. More recently, we have also been delighted to make donations to 60 volunteer and heritage organisations in recognition of the tremendous effort involved in bringing exhibits to the event.

On behalf of the entire organising team, thank you to everyone who played a part in making The Greatest Gathering such a memorable celebration of our railway heritage. The impact of your support continues to be felt long after the event itself.

What a celebration! Our thanks to GWR for hosting the first anniversary celebrations, and Avanti West Coast for providing Pendolino power into Paddington!

At the event last year we raised over £100,000 for Railway 200 partner charities, and a further 60 heritage and volunteer organisations have recently benefited from additional donations.

Today’s anniversary supports the lasting legacy of the event and demonstrates what can be done with industry collaboration, paving the way for the future with GBR.

A year ago today, we kicked off The Greatest Gathering by taking a Avanti West Coast class 390 Pendolino to Derby Alstom Litchurch Lane works, and today we take a 390 Pendolino to London Paddington to celebrate the anniversary - thank you to GWR for hosting the event in London Paddington.

🚨 This time last year preparations for The Greatest Gathering were in full swing!

The DMU Group West Midlands, along with many other volunteer organisations, recently benefitted from a donation from The Greatest Gathering Organising Team for its part in the record breaking event. Following the event, surplus funds generated through fund-raising have been distributed amongst selected heritage groups and charitable organisations, which recognises the efforts of these groups in Derby, last year.

We continue to be so grateful for the support we had for the event, and funds raised for the Railway 200 nominated charities.
