🔧 WE'RE HIRING – CARRIAGE MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Our carriage maintenance team is growing, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Carriage Maintenance Engineer to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.

📍 Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per year

The role involves mechanical fitting and electrical work across all aspects of rolling stock maintenance, including planned maintenance, fault finding and repairs.

⚡ Electrical experience is preferred but not essential, and training will be provided where required.

Previous railway experience is desirable, but we welcome candidates with relevant engineering, mechanical fitting or industrial maintenance experience.

📍 Salary: £30,000 – £32,500 per year

The role involves the maintenance, repair, refurbishment and preparation of passenger carriages, helping to keep our rolling stock safe, reliable and ready for service.

We’re looking for someone with practical experience in areas such as vehicle maintenance, engineering, fabrication, woodworking, plumbing or similar trades, with good fault-finding skills and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

🚂 Railway rolling stock or heritage vehicle experience is desirable, but not essential.

Friday 2nd October saw Great Western Railway’s iconic 6024 King Edward I out on the main line for a test run, putting the locomotive through her paces ahead of her upcoming duties.

It was great to see the familiar sight of the King back out on the network, with plenty of steam, plenty of noise and some fantastic autumn scenery along the way.

Join us for a fantastic day out behind 37401 ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ & 37402 ‘Oor Wullie’, travelling through some of the best railway scenery in the North.

Departing from Crewe, Warrington Bank Quay, Wigan North Western and Preston, we’ll head north over the West Coast Main Line and Shap Summit, before continuing through the spectacular Tyne Valley via Hexham to Newcastle.

From there, it’s along the Durham Coast through Sunderland and Hartlepool, before arriving into historic York for around two hours.
