Our feature treasure chest planter with all the gold spilling out has self seeded Morning Glory climbing all over it. The platform is looking very pretty with patches of self seeded Morning Glory from last year. We are pleased that all our hard work planting and watering is providing patches of flowers for insects in this summer of drought. There is always something buzzing around.

Not unexpectedly in these drought conditions the train timetable will be reduced from August 10th to 1 train in 2 hours applying to both directions. Check the train times if you intend to travel. Write to your MP asking him to demand more investment in the Salisbury to Exeter line.

We are very sad to tell you that our hard working and very keen Social Secretary Heather Sargeant has passed away. She was the one who organised our Christmas decorations and stalls at outside events and her skills will be very much missed. She is pictured here accepting one of our awards which you can see delights her. As a member of the station volunteers she was in charge of putting together the floral Treasure Chest pictured here and we were all delighted at how it turned out. The Thursday volunteers work hard at the station planting, watering, clearing and making the station environment better and Heather's hard work will be missed.
Thank you Heather for all you have done at our lovely station.

This week we had a new watering volunteer for safety briefing and training in use of the hose, taps and water meter. The presence of this lovely orange tailed bee demonstrates how important are the flowers planted at the station during this heat wave. Meanwhile more volunteers are selective weeding to make sure that not too many of the same plant - wild strawberry- are preventing a selection of other wild flowers. And clearing the Valerian now it has flowered from the railings helps people on the active up platform see the cultivated flowers in the planters.

This mornings watering uncovered some escapees from last year. Can you spot the Morning Glory from last year self seeded all over the place. Let’s hope it flowers. The Oregano seeded from the planters is flowering now and attracting insects.

The volunteers at the station have been busy at the station and elsewhere. Thank you Royal British Legion for inviting us to the Severalls Tea Party, we met a little of nice people who were interested in our work at the station. Thank you also to SWIB’s judge for Its Your Neighbourhood award who came along this week to see what we are doing for nature and the community. Lots of lovely people have told us how much they enjoy being in our station and we love hearing them and having a chat. In this weather our waterers are up there every day but Thursday morning is our regular volunteer time.
