Getting everyone to the wedding is often only half the story when it comes to guest transport.

For some weddings, that can mean taking guests to Upton Barn earlier in the day, then returning later in the evening for several collections back to their accommodation.

Some guests are ready to head back earlier. Others want to stay until the celebrations finish. They may also be staying at different hotels, B&Bs or other accommodation around the area.

Having the transport arranged around those different requirements can work really well, particularly when not everyone wants to leave at the same time.

Having provided a lot of transport to Upton Barn over the past couple of years, it’s a venue I’ve become very familiar with and one I always enjoy returning to.

I know the venue, the surrounding area and many of the places where guests regularly stay. That local familiarity can be particularly useful when several journeys are needed throughout the day and evening.

For the couple getting married, the best outcome is simple.

Their guests know when they’re being collected and their transport arrives when expected, leaving the bride and groom to concentrate on something considerably more important...

🚆 Got family or friends arriving at Tiverton Parkway?

Not every train journey starts with someone heading away.

Quite a few of mine begin with someone arriving.

Family coming down to stay for a few days.

Friends travelling into Devon for a wedding.

Grandparents coming to visit.

Guests arriving who don't know the area particularly well.

If you're working, preparing for visitors or simply can't get to the station yourself, arranging their onward journey can be a useful alternative to collecting them yourself.

I provide pre-booked collections from Tiverton Parkway to homes, hotels, wedding venues and accommodation across Mid Devon and the surrounding area.

I'll keep an eye on the train, meet your guests at the station and make sure they get safely to where they need to be.

Because it's all arranged beforehand, you don't need to interrupt whatever you're doing to make a last-minute dash to the station.

Sometimes it's the relatively small things that make having people come to stay that little bit easier.

✈️ 𝗨𝗞 𝗔𝗜𝗥 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗟 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗥𝗨𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

If you're flying today, or heading home to the UK later, it's worth keeping an eye on your flight.

NATS, which manages the UK's air traffic control system, has reported a technical issue with its flight-processing system this afternoon.

UK airspace remains open, but NATS is currently operating at reduced capacity, resulting in significant disruption across the UK. Flights are being delayed and some cancellations are possible, with further knock-on disruption likely as operations gradually recover.

If you're travelling through Exeter or Bristol Airport today, check for the latest updates from your airline and airport as the situation develops.

The flight-tracking image below is showing Exeter and Bristol Airport traffic this afternoon — noticeably much quieter than you'd normally expect to see.

🚐 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿?

A large part of my work involves Exeter and Bristol Airports, but I've never really felt that the term “airport taxi” quite describes the service I've tried to build around those journeys.

For me, an airport transfer starts long before I arrive at your door.

If you're travelling from Mid Devon to Exeter or Bristol Airport, I will usually already know whether your flight is running on time, which aircraft is expected to operate it and whether something happening earlier in the day could potentially affect your departure.

While you're away, I'll also be keeping an eye on your return flight.

If your flight home is delayed, or arrives earlier than expected, you shouldn't have to worry about keeping me updated. I'll normally be watching it already.

At Exeter Airport, I aim to be there and ready for you when you arrive. There's no need to call me after landing, wait for me to travel to the airport or make your way to an off-site collection point.

I'll meet you at the airport, in the same area where I dropped you off at the start of your holiday.

It might sound like a small detail, but I think it sums up the service I've tried to build. Your journey home has already been thought about before you step off the aircraft.

You don't need to be travelling as a large family or group either. I regularly take couples to Exeter and Bristol Airports who simply prefer having their airport transport arranged from door to door.

If you're heading away and haven't considered a private airport transfer before, it may be worth asking me for a quote. You might be pleasantly surprised.

One evening changed how I run my business.

Long before Devon Transfers Private Hire existed, my wife and I had booked a taxi home after a lovely evening together.

We'd enjoyed a great meal, had a wonderful evening and were looking forward to an easy journey home.

Our taxi never arrived.

After waiting, we called to find out what had happened.

When we finally got through, we were told they had taken on other work and could no longer honour our booking. That was incredibly disappointing because we'd done exactly what you're supposed to do—we'd booked our transport in advance.

We eventually found another way home, but it completely changed the end of what had been a really enjoyable evening.

That experience stayed with me. In many ways, it became the foundation for Devon Transfers.

My business is built around pre-booked journeys because I believe that once your transport is arranged, it should stay arranged.

Whether you're heading out for an anniversary meal, meeting friends, celebrating with family or travelling to another important occasion, my aim is simple:

Once you've booked, you shouldn't have to think about your transport again.

This photo was taken recently in Combe Martin after I'd taken a family down to start their 10-day holiday.

It's a good example of another side of Devon Transfers Private Hire that I probably don't talk about quite as often: 𝗽𝗿𝗲-𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗶𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗻.

That could be an anniversary or special meal where neither of you wants to worry about driving home, a family celebration, a concert or event, a day out with friends or simply a longer journey where you'd rather have the transport arranged beforehand.

Sometimes having someone else do the driving simply makes the occasion that little bit easier to enjoy.

There's something about wedding days that always gets me.

Every wedding I help with reminds me of my own.

The photograph below is from our wedding day many years ago. Every time I see it, it takes me straight back to that blur of excitement, nerves, laughter and the feeling of being surrounded by the people who matter most.

You don't realise how quickly the day passes until you're the one in the suit, hoping everything runs smoothly while trying to take it all in before it rushes past.

That's one of the reasons I genuinely enjoy providing wedding guest transport.

Not because it's simply another booking but because I know how much is already happening behind the scenes.

Most of the wedding guest transport I provide is for family and friends travelling into Mid Devon from outside the area. They are often arriving somewhere completely new and knowing their transport is already arranged, means it's one less thing for them to think about before the celebrations even begin.

For the bride and groom, it's one less phone call to make, one less detail to check and one more opportunity to simply enjoy the day they've spent so long planning.

Whether I'm collecting family from their hotel, meeting guests from the train station, or making sure everyone gets home safely after the celebrations, my aim is always the same...
