A large part of my work involves Exeter and Bristol Airports, but I've never really felt that the term “airport taxi” quite describes the service I've tried to build around those journeys.

For me, an airport transfer starts long before I arrive at your door.

If you're travelling from Mid Devon to Exeter or Bristol Airport, I will usually already know whether your flight is running on time, which aircraft is expected to operate it and whether something happening earlier in the day could potentially affect your departure.

While you're away, I'll also be keeping an eye on your return flight.

If your flight home is delayed, or arrives earlier than expected, you shouldn't have to worry about keeping me updated. I'll normally be watching it already.

At Exeter Airport, I aim to be there and ready for you when you arrive. There's no need to call me after landing, wait for me to travel to the airport or make your way to an off-site collection point.

I'll meet you at the airport, in the same area where I dropped you off at the start of your holiday.

It might sound like a small detail, but I think it sums up the service I've tried to build. Your journey home has already been thought about before you step off the aircraft.

You don't need to be travelling as a large family or group either. I regularly take couples to Exeter and Bristol Airports who simply prefer having their airport transport arranged from door to door.

If you're heading away and haven't considered a private airport transfer before, it may be worth asking me for a quote. You might be pleasantly surprised.

After all, your holiday doesn't have to start at the airport. 😊

One evening changed how I run my business.

Long before Devon Transfers Private Hire existed, my wife and I had booked a taxi home after a lovely evening together.

We'd enjoyed a great meal, had a wonderful evening and were looking forward to an easy journey home.

Our taxi never arrived.

After waiting, we called to find out what had happened.

When we finally got through, we were told they had taken on other work and could no longer honour our booking. That was incredibly disappointing because we'd done exactly what you're supposed to do—we'd booked our transport in advance.

We eventually found another way home, but it completely changed the end of what had been a really enjoyable evening.

That experience stayed with me. In many ways, it became the foundation for Devon Transfers.

My business is built around pre-booked journeys because I believe that once your transport is arranged, it should stay arranged.

Whether you're heading out for an anniversary meal, meeting friends, celebrating with family or travelling to another important occasion, my aim is simple:

Once you've booked, you shouldn't have to think about your transport again.

That means being there when agreed and honouring the booking you've trusted me with, so you can concentrate on the people you're with and the occasion you're enjoying.

If you've got an important journey coming up and would like the reassurance of having your transport planned in advance, I'd be delighted to help.

This photo was taken recently in Combe Martin after I'd taken a family down to start their 10-day holiday.

It's a good example of another side of Devon Transfers Private Hire that I probably don't talk about quite as often: 𝗽𝗿𝗲-𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗶𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗻.

That could be an anniversary or special meal where neither of you wants to worry about driving home, a family celebration, a concert or event, a day out with friends or simply a longer journey where you'd rather have the transport arranged beforehand.

Sometimes having someone else do the driving simply makes the occasion that little bit easier to enjoy.

So, if you've got something coming up and you're wondering whether it might be the sort of journey I can help with, you're always welcome to ask.

There's something about wedding days that always gets me.

Every wedding I help with reminds me of my own.

The photograph below is from our wedding day many years ago. Every time I see it, it takes me straight back to that blur of excitement, nerves, laughter and the feeling of being surrounded by the people who matter most.

You don't realise how quickly the day passes until you're the one in the suit, hoping everything runs smoothly while trying to take it all in before it rushes past.

That's one of the reasons I genuinely enjoy providing wedding guest transport.

Not because it's simply another booking but because I know how much is already happening behind the scenes.

Most of the wedding guest transport I provide is for family and friends travelling into Mid Devon from outside the area. They are often arriving somewhere completely new and knowing their transport is already arranged, means it's one less thing for them to think about before the celebrations even begin.

For the bride and groom, it's one less phone call to make, one less detail to check and one more opportunity to simply enjoy the day they've spent so long planning.

Whether I'm collecting family from their hotel, meeting guests from the train station, or making sure everyone gets home safely after the celebrations, my aim is always the same...

𝗧𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁.

When everything runs smoothly, it allows the couple to focus on what really matters—spending time with the people they love and making memories they'll look back on for years to come.

It's a privilege to play even a small part in such an important day and it's something I'll never take for granted.

If you're planning your wedding and have family or friends travelling into Mid Devon, I'd be delighted to help make their journey one less thing for you to think about.

𝐌𝐢𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐬 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐲 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧 🚐

Willand isn't just where Devon Transfers Private Hire is based — 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲.

That's one of the reasons I've deliberately built the business around serving Mid Devon and the communities around me.

Rather than trying to be everywhere, I prefer to concentrate on the part of Devon I know best.

Most of my journeys begin in Willand, Uffculme, Cullompton, Tiverton and the surrounding villages.

Where I take people, though, is a different story.

It might be Bristol Airport, Exeter Airport, a wedding venue, Tiverton Parkway or another pre-booked journey across Devon and the surrounding area.

But more often than not, the journey starts right here in Mid Devon.

That's important to me.

Concentrating on the communities around me means driving roads I know, visiting venues I know and, increasingly, looking after familiar faces too.

One of the nicest parts of running Devon Transfers is seeing a returning customer's name appear in my messages — or hearing that somebody has contacted me because a friend, neighbour or local business recommended me.

That's the kind of business I want Devon Transfers Private Hire to be.

𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗻. 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼.

It's been great to see Devon Transfers gradually become a familiar name around Mid Devon and I really appreciate the local support that's helped make that happen.

I look forward to continuing to serve the communities around me and seeing plenty more familiar faces along the way.

🚨 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 – 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁

UPDATE: Saturday 8th Aug @ 07:56 airport is now OPEN. Please expect some delays during the day due to aircraft and crew displacement. Refer to your airline and official Bristol Airport website for more details.

Saturday 8th Aug @ 07:05 - airport is still CLOSED. Next update by the airport is at 8am. Overnight flights have diverted to Cardiff, Gatwick, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Southend, Manchester and even Liverpool.

Friday 7th Aug - If you're due to collect family or friends from Bristol Airport tonight, or you're flying out tomorrow morning, I'd recommend checking the latest flight information before you set off.

Bristol Airport is currently experiencing disruption following a runway defect. A number of inbound flights have already been diverted to other airports and disruption is expected to continue overnight.

If you're travelling, I'd recommend:
• Checking the official Bristol Airport website for the latest arrivals and departures.
• Checking your airline's app or website for any updates to your flight.
• Keeping in touch with your passenger if you're collecting someone, as they may arrive at a different airport if their flight has been diverted.

I'll certainly be keeping a close eye on the situation this evening, as I'm due to collect passengers arriving from Sharm El Sheikh shortly after 3am.

With disruption expected to continue into tomorrow morning, it's well worth checking the latest information before you leave home.

Safe travels everyone.

🚐 The best journeys are often the ones people barely think about.

The vehicle arrives when expected.

The luggage goes in.

The journey runs smoothly.

Before long, you're arriving at a wedding venue, making your train connection or heading off to the airport.

From the customer’s perspective, everything simply works.

What people don’t always see are the flight checks, booking adjustments, venue research, train times and all the little details that help everything come together.

Much of that happens long before the journey itself.

And that’s exactly how it should be.

For me, one of the nicest compliments is when a customer says the journey felt easy.

Because usually, that’s the result of a lot of small things happening behind the scenes that they’ve never needed to worry about.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆?

It’s something families often ask when arranging an airport transfer.

Many parents prefer to use their own child seats—they’re familiar, comfortable and suited to each child’s needs. But once you arrive at the airport, there’s the obvious question: what happens to the seats while you’re away?

For return airport transfers, I can store your child seats securely and free of charge until you come home. No carrying bulky seats through the terminal, no juggling them alongside bags and pushchairs, and no wondering where they’ll be kept while you’re gone.

I’ll refit the seats in the vehicle before the return collection. As safety always comes first, I ask the parent or guardian to check each seat and confirm they’re happy with the fitting before we set off.

My six-seat vehicle has five ISOFIX points, providing plenty of flexibility for different family seating arrangements. Child seats aren’t supplied, but families are very welcome to bring their own suitable seats by prior arrangement.

The photograph shows two customer-owned seats prepared in the vehicle for a family airport collection—a simple example of how the arrangement works in practice.

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼’𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂?

I’m sure other families would appreciate your tips.

Sometimes it's the little moments...

One of the unexpected perks of this job isn't just helping people get from A to B...

It's getting to see moments that most people never do.

The excitement before a family heads off on holiday.

Friends travelling together for a weekend away.

Wedding guests looking forward to a special day.

The quiet roads before sunrise...
..and evenings like this, watching the sun go down with Exeter Airport in the distance.

Along the way, there are plenty of familiar questions too...

🧳 "Do you think it'll all fit?" (The answer is almost always yes!)

☕ "Have you been busy?"

😊 And my favourite...

"We're finally going on holiday!"

It's those little moments of excitement that remind me every journey is part of someone else's story.

Whether it's a holiday, a wedding, a family celebration or simply catching a train, it's always a privilege to play a small part in helping people get there.

Hope you're all making the most of the summer.

☀️ The summer holidays are now underway, and it's lovely to see so many children making the most of the summer.

Whether they're riding bikes, walking to the park, playing with friends or simply enjoying being outdoors, there'll be plenty more young people out and about over the coming weeks.

As someone who spends a lot of time driving across Mid Devon, it's something I'll certainly be keeping in mind.

If you're behind the wheel this summer, slowing down through villages and residential areas, staying alert and giving yourself a little extra time can make all the difference. Children don't always think like adults, and sometimes excitement gets the better of them.

A little extra care from all of us can help keep our communities safe, so everyone can enjoy the holidays and head back to school with happy memories.

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable summer. ☀️🚲
