To honour and support these change-makers, World Entrepreneurs Day was created as an annual celebration of entrepreneurship, creativity, and impact.

We asked KMB Directors to share their thoughts on World Entrepreneurs Day.

Here are my personal insights & tips into being a business owner/entrepreneur.

• It may look easy, but it’s not – think of the Swan, calm and collected above the water, but frantically paddling underneath! This is what people see on the outside, but it takes a lot of hard work on the inside.

• You must ask the hard questions, when it would be easy to continue as you are. I have always pushed for innovation and change, even when our systems & processes have worked just fine.

• Lead from the front – you must share with your team the goal & show them the general direction you want the company to go in but give them space to find their own way to get there.

• If at first you don’t succeed… try, try, again. When you come up against problems, pick yourself up and keep going – and yes, you have to develop a thick skin for all the doubters too.

• Listen, listen, listen – you will learn lots from others, be that from the team, at networking events or from coaches/mentors.

Paul Hull, who was Black Country Business Person of the year 2022 also shared his thoughts.

I always try to be a leader, forward thinking and a creator. Not a boss.

• For me, it’s always about spotting opportunities and consistently reviewing how I/ we can do things better. The most dangerous quote in business – “we’ve always done it this way”.

• If you want to stay in front it's critical you have an open mindset.

• Create a great team culture; always be honest & transparent with your vision.

• At times it can be very hard, but my advice – Surround yourself with the right people that bring out the best in you!

• Be brave, be positive; Make it happen!

KMB STAFF PARTY AND KARTING CHALLENGE -

Always up for a challenge, the KMB team met at Teamworks Karting Centre to see who had the most drive out of an already driven team!

Everyone from KMB was revved up and ready at TeamWorks Halesowen, an incredible two-level kart circuit with challenging corners and a darkened tunnel the race track owners say, leaves you feeling like you are karting through the streets of Monaco.

Grid ready with adrenaline pumping, and behind the wheel of some unbelievably fast, 200cc indoor karts, the tension was high.

A fantastic night of team building, fun and excitement was had by all with the eventual winner Owen Curley, hotly pursued round the figure of eight track by directors Paul Hull and Jamie Warren, who finished 2nd and 3rd. 😃

Kev Jones, another KMB director, was beaten by his 16-year-old daughter Kacey! showing dad a clean pair of slicks !

Don't wait to apply for the UK Internal Market Scheme (UKIMS)

The UK Internal Market Scheme (UKIMS) comes with an expanded range of benefits and a new set of eligibility criteria. To establish your eligibility for this scheme, you'll need to furnish additional information to HMRC by completing an online form. If you complete this process before July 31, 2023, HMRC will prioritise your transition to the UKIMS by September 30, 2023. The form is found via your government Gateway at https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/

If you currently hold authorisation under the UK Trader Scheme, here's what you need to know:

For goods in transit prior to September 30, 2023, you can continue to declare your goods as 'not at risk' using your existing UK Trader Scheme authorisation.

However, for any goods moving on or after September 30, 2023, your UK Trader Scheme authorisation will cease to be valid. From this date forward, you'll need to utilise the UK Internal Market Scheme authorisation.
