Not as quickly as we'd hoped, but with more parts becoming obsolete, we have to find stock and await delivery. But with everything in hand now, this should be running again next week

The post festive period breakdowns have been dealt with, and we can now announce a few updates

We are happy to say that after many months of searching, we found a new technician. Some customers will have met him already. For those who haven't, Liam joined us late last year directly from a JLR dealer, bringing with him essential brand knowledge and valuable extra hours in a day
We also added Lee, who joined us an apprentice

We trialled a 4 day working week at the end of last year, this will now be permanent. Our opening hours are Monday to Thursday, 8am-6pm
Our customers have also found it easier to drop off and collect vehicles during these times

We have increased our stock of parts, so we are less likely to be affected by any supply issues, as witnessed during the JLR hacking saga. It also means we hold more stock for anything unforseen found during servicing, saving you another appointment

These changes mean that we have managed to reduce our waiting times for routine maintenance and repairs from 3 months, down to around 3 weeks (though bigger jobs and breakdowns may take longer)

We look forward to welcoming you all throughout the rest of the year

Who's there?

A rare failure of an SD4 engine. Believe it or not, we actually managed to get the engine running like this, but obviously beyond repair

We sourced a good running replacement, that we knew the history of to replace this failed unit

A new timing belt and water pump, a fresh set of filters and fluids, and another one ready to hit the road again

This Defender owner was suffering with repeated flat batteries, and fed up of calling the AA out for a jump start in the morning

We happily replaced both batteries with tried and tested Exide Preimum batteries for the main and auxiliary batteries, but the wiring was horrendous!

We had it back in recently for the wiring to be tidied up, and a new split charge system.
While pulling out all the old wiring, it turns out that the auxiliary battery had been wired up as the main battery, and the other battery was being charged by the split charge, but had nothing connected to it 😅

With the main and aux batteries now wired correctly and a new Battery Management System fitted, things are much neater and tidier. The car now running off the correct big battery, and the winch wiring rectified and running off the aux battery. And best of all, should our customer find himself with a flat battery again, at the press of a button, the management system will link both batteries together so he can jump start himself!

A quick inspection revealed the coolant pipes for the rear HVAC system to be heavily corroded, causing the leak

Unfortunately, not a quick or easy fix, as the whole rear subframe and suspension set up, needs removing to access, as well as partial removal of the fuel tank

When a traditional headlight blows, you stick a new bulb in it

When you deal with Xenon and LED headlights, things get more complex, and potentially, very expensive. A new headlight for a modern JLR product can be in excess of £3,000!

So there are a few checks needed before we commit to replacing the whole headlight unit!

In this case, it turned out to be as simple as a corroded earth point. With the earth terminal repaired, full functionality of the headlight returned, and one very relieved customer!
