Western Ferries is a privately owned company which has operated the fast and frequent crossing between Hunter's Quay (Dunoon) and McInroy's Point (Gourock) across the Firth of Clyde since 1973. This route links the central belt of Scotland with the Cowal peninsula, Argyllshire and beyond. There are sailings from each terminal every 20 minutes throughout most of the day and every 15 minutes at peak times. The Company operates a fleet of 4 modern roll-on roll-off passenger and vehicle ferries which provide a regular and frequent service, delivering nearly 32,000 sailings, early morning to late at night, over 365 days a year. All our vessels are designed to provide easy access for wheelchair users. There is no need to book or to check-in, this turn up and go service allows you to board the first available ferry quickly and easily.

You never quite know what you’re going to see travelling with Western Ferries.

One of our eagle-eyed passengers, Mack Scrap, spotted this very special classic car onboard recently – a 1957 BMW 502 2.6 Grand Luxe.

The BMW 502 was one of the German manufacturer's luxury saloons of the 1950s and, as you can imagine, it's not a car we see making the crossing every day.

This particular car also has quite a story behind it, having originally been delivered to Lebanon in 1957 before eventually making its way to the UK.

A lovely piece of motoring history enjoying a trip across the Clyde and certainly something a little different on Sound of Seil’s deck.

Please do not park in our designated disabled parking spaces unless you are entitled to use them.

These spaces are located close to our facilities for a reason, to make access easier for passengers and visitors with disabilities or limited mobility.

Even if you’re only stopping for a few minutes, occupying one of these spaces can prevent someone who genuinely needs it from being able to use it.

Please help us keep our facilities accessible to everyone and leave our disabled parking spaces available for those who need them.
