It’s been quieter at the airfield due to the weather, but here is a little snapshot of what goes on up in the tower on a busy day at Barton Aerodrome.

Our FISO’s Carl and Ryan were hard at work keeping everyone safe and operations flowing smoothly.

It’s been a busy last few days at the airfield with plenty of based and visiting aircraft taking advantage of the glorious weather ✈️🚁

Last Saturday alone had over 350 movements throughout the day! We hope to see even more before the good weather leaves us!

🧹✈️ BARTON RUNWAY PICKUP EVENING ✈️🧹

We’re calling on our pilots and aerodrome community to come together and help give the runways at **Manchester Barton Aerodrome** a thorough pickup!

Over time, old pottery, stones and other potential FOD can work their way to the surface, so we’re organising an evening to get as many people as possible out on the airfield and help clear it together.

✈️🏃‍♂️ A slightly different visitor to Barton!

We recently welcomed Mike Knobler to Manchester Barton Aerodrome as part of a pretty incredible adventure combining two very different forms of endurance - flying and marathon running!

Mike is currently undertaking a round-the-world journey in his Mooney M20J, while also attempting to complete 26 marathons in 26 countries in 26 weeks during the opening stages of his 2026–27 circumnavigation.

Having already completed a marathon in all 50 US states, Mike has now taken the challenge international - travelling between events in his own aircraft and documenting the journey along the way.

It was great to have him drop into Barton during the UK leg of his adventure, and we wish him clear skies, favourable winds… and hopefully fresh legs for the miles still to come! ✈️🌍🏃‍♂️
