Moving house is chaotic for humans, but watching their entire territory get packed into brown boxes is pure confusion for a pet. They see doors propped open, familiar smells disappearing, and strangers carrying heavy furniture through their hallway.
Whenever our team arrives at a home in Devon, the first thing we look out for is where the family dog is resting. If they are darting between rooms trying to guard the front door, the stress levels in the property double before nine in the morning.
The simplest fix is dedicating one quiet room with their bed, water bowl, and favourite blanket behind a closed door until the van is loaded. Even better, arranging for a friend or neighbour to look after them for the day keeps them completely out of harm’s way.
It protects your pets from open doors and gives you the space to focus on handing over the keys.
