Arthur Hagg occupies a unique place in British engineering history yet remained out of the public eye. Now recognised as one of Britain's most gifted designers, creating some of Britain's greatest pre-war aircraft; he pioneered stressed-skin wooden monocoque construction that paved the way for the Mosquito; designing one of the world's most successful long-distance racing aircraft. He introduced aircraft engineering into yacht construction producing some of Britain's most elegant semi-displacement motor yachts even having influence on the design of the Royal Barge carried aboard Britannia. This Hagg 44 is off to Norfolk for some TLC after spending several years in the Channel Islands. It was nice to arrive this morning to the friendly atmosphere at Wayford Marine and work with Abbey Transport Ltd for the cranage. All round brilliant organisation as usual in Norfolk.
