July is one of the most popular times to get out and explore Scotland, and availability is now becoming limited across our fleet.

We still have a selection of campervans available throughout the month, with some motorhome availability remaining at the start of July.

To help make the most of the remaining dates, we're offering 10% off selected July bookings. It's a great opportunity to enjoy the flexibility of having your accommodation and transport in one place while making the most of Scotland's longer summer days.

For added comfort and convenience, many travellers choose to stay on campsites with electric hook-up and facilities, making it easy to relax after a day on the road.

June is one of the best times to experience Scotland by motorhome. The days are long, the roads are quieter than peak summer, and there is still plenty to see and do across the country.

If you're planning a getaway before the school holidays begin, there are still limited rental slots available up until 19th June at £950 per week.

For shorter breaks, our minimum rental period is just four nights, giving you the flexibility to enjoy a few days away without committing to a full week.

A campsite stay can make your experience even more comfortable, with electric hook-up, reliable facilities, and a relaxed base for exploring Scotland at your own pace.

A lot of people looking at motorhome hire for the first time are surprised by how much is already included once they step inside.

Our motorhomes are designed to make travelling around Scotland comfortable and practical, especially when the weather changes or you want a quieter campsite stay outside peak season.

Inside, you’ll find proper beds, heating, kitchen facilities, seating areas, storage space, lighting, and onboard washroom facilities depending on the model you choose.

Having your own space ready at the end of the day makes a big difference after driving, walking, or exploring smaller towns and coastal areas.

Many customers also enjoy staying at campsites with electric hook-up, giving you reliable power, warm evenings indoors, and an easy base for slower-paced travel.

If you’ve never travelled in a motorhome before, it’s usually much more straightforward and comfortable than people expect.

When people start looking at campervans and motorhomes, one of the first questions is usually about space.

For couples, a compact campervan can feel simple, comfortable, and easy to drive. It gives you everything you need without feeling oversized on smaller Scottish roads or campsites.

For families, extra room quickly becomes important. Having proper sleeping areas, somewhere to sit inside comfortably, and space for luggage makes a big difference over several days away.

Campsites also make family travel much easier, especially outside peak season. Electric hook-up, warm facilities, and reliable overnight stops help everyone settle in and relax properly at the end of the day.

There is no single “best” option — it really depends on how you plan to use the vehicle and how much space helps you feel comfortable on the road.

One of the advantages of hiring with Go Explore Scotland is access to trusted places to stay across the country.

Our customers can use Friendly Camping and Caravan Club sites during their experience, giving you reliable overnight stops with facilities that make life on the road easier and more comfortable.

You can also join Campsite+ while travelling, helping you find smaller, welcoming locations with electric hook-up, showers and peaceful surroundings away from busy tourist areas.

For many travellers, having proper facilities, a warm place to stop and the reassurance of organised sites makes the whole experience far more relaxing — especially outside peak summer months.

If you’re new to motorhome travel, one of the most common questions is what an electric hook-up actually does — and whether you really need one.

An electric hook-up simply connects your motorhome to power at a campsite. It allows you to use mains sockets, keep the heating running comfortably, charge devices easily, and avoid relying fully on the leisure battery.

In summer, some people prefer to stay off-grid occasionally. But during cooler months, or if you’re travelling with family, many guests find hook-up pitches make evenings warmer, easier, and more relaxing.

It’s also useful if you’re stopping for a few nights in one place and want a more settled campsite experience with reliable power throughout your stay.

For first-time motorhome travellers especially, choosing campsites with hook-up can make the whole experience feel much more straightforward and comfortable.

A lot of people assume you can park a motorhome anywhere overnight in Scotland, but it’s a bit more nuanced than that.

Wild camping rules in Scotland apply to people on foot, not motorhomes or campervans. That means overnight stays are best planned around campsites, designated stopovers, or approved overnight parking areas.

The good news is there are plenty of great options across Scotland, especially outside peak summer. Smaller campsites and dedicated campervan areas can give you a quiet, comfortable stop with proper facilities.

Having electric hook-up, fresh water, and somewhere reliable to settle for the evening makes a huge difference when the Scottish weather changes quickly.

For many customers, a simple campsite stay gives the best balance of freedom, comfort, and peace of mind while exploring Scotland.

Trying to see all of Scotland in one motorhome experience usually means spending more time driving than enjoying where you are.

A slower route often works better.

Pick one area, stay a little longer, and give yourself time to properly settle in. That could mean a few nights at a quiet campsite with electric hook-up, slower mornings, and evenings without rushing to the next stop.

You’ll often find the best parts of the experience happen in between the big landmarks anyway. A local walk, a peaceful Lochside pitch, or having the van set up comfortably for the evening can end up being the part people remember most.

Scotland is much easier to enjoy when you stop trying to fit everything into one week.

If you’re planning your first motorhome experience in Scotland, one of the biggest questions is where to start.

Loch Lomond is ideal if you want an easier first drive with plenty of lochside stops, campsites, and walking routes close together.

Glencoe gives you dramatic scenery almost immediately, with mountain views, quieter evenings outside peak season, and some excellent campsite locations for staying warm and comfortable overnight.

Skye suits people who want longer scenic drives and a slower pace, with more time spent exploring smaller villages, coastal roads, and stopping off along the way.

There’s no wrong answer. It really comes down to the kind of experience you want from your time on the road.

If you’re unsure which route would suit you best, we’re always happy to help talk through the options before you travel.

First Scotland Route?

✅ Easier Lochside driving
✅ Dramatic mountain scenery
✅ Slower scenic island pace
