𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀. 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. ⚓️

This submariner’s No.1 uniform came to us with the medal ribbons sitting too low, leaving the dolphins almost level with the point of the lapel.

After repositioning, the ribbons now sit correctly just below the lapel point, so the medals themselves will hang level with it when worn. The dolphins are back at the correct height, and everything is straight and properly positioned.

It’s not just about sewing ribbons onto a jacket. 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀.

It’s all in the details. ⚓️

One of more than 20 jackets striped up by the team over the last few days, and this close-up shows exactly what we mean by doing things properly.

Every piece of gold lace is hand sewn into place, with the stripes carefully aligned so they match perfectly across the sleeve seam. No mismatched lines. No shortcuts.

It takes longer. It takes skill. And it makes all the difference to the finished uniform.

Times may change. Standards must remain.

OFF DUTY? Keep it that way. ⚓

It’s Bank Holiday Sunday, and hopefully uniforms are the last thing on your mind.

But September is almost here, and with it come promotions, dinners, Trafalgar Night, Remembrance and a very busy few months.

So enjoy the long weekend, spend time with family and friends, and when you’re ready to think about uniforms again, we’ll be here to take care of them.

Enjoy the Bank Holiday. We’ll worry about the uniforms.

Another new uniform heading out into the Fleet. ⚓

This beautiful made-to-measure mess kit, freshly striped to Lieutenant, has had its final fitting and finishing touches and is ready to leave TTHQ with its owner.

We have quite a few new made-to-measure uniforms reaching completion at the moment. For us, it's the end of the making process. For their owners, it's just the beginning of many dinners, events and memories ahead.

Made to measure. Tailored to fit. Striped by hand. Ready for the Fleet.

A very proud Tin Trousers moment today. 🎩🏇

Our very own Jeanette swapped TTHQ for Fontwell Park Racecourse today, where she was invited to join the judging panel for Best Dressed at Ladies Day.

With Jeanette’s eye for detail, fit and fabulous headwear, we can’t think of a better person for the job!

And of course, we couldn't turn up without making an effort ourselves. Jeanette and I were both wearing bespoke hats, with our dresses altered to fit by the Tin Trousers team.

We are incredibly proud of Jeanette, not just for today, but for the skill and expertise she brings to our team every day. ❤️

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝘆𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗸𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴… 💪⚓

Its owner had gained a little more across the shoulders than his mess jacket was prepared to accommodate.

Thankfully, we have Sandra.

Using decades of tailoring experience, she 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘀 within the jacket, finding barathea matched not just for weight, but for the colour of the original cloth after years of wear.

The result? You shouldn't be able to tell where the original jacket ends and Sandra's work begins.

Then over to Chase to stripe it up to Commander. Three rows of gold lace, all hand sewn, and just look at that lace match across the sleeve seam.

Sometimes you don't need a new uniform. You need a very good tailor.

Full size and miniature, ready to wear. 🎖️

Another set of full-size medals traditionally court mounted at TTHQ, with matching miniatures swing mounted.

Among this set is the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Long Service Medal, awarded for 20 years' service in the RFA, with clasps recognising each further 10 years.

A lovely medal recognising a considerable career at sea, and a reminder of the vital role the RFA plays supporting the Royal Navy around the world.

Mounted using traditional methods and materials, as always, no glue or sticky tape.

Ready for the Fleet. ⚓

Another made-to-measure No.1 uniform has had its final alterations and finishing touches at TTHQ and is ready to leave us with its owner.

Striped to Commodore, finished with King’s Crown buttons at the owner’s request, and fitted with ribbons ready to wear.

Those buttons are particularly special, struck exclusively for Tin Trousers.

This is one of many new made-to-measure uniforms reaching completion over the next few weeks, each about to begin its own life out in the Fleet.

Made to fit its owner. Made to serve for years.

Another ship’s cummerbund repeat order leaving TTHQ ⚓

Two sides, two individual embroideries, all made to order.

This particular design doesn't feature the ship's crest, but did you know that Tin Trousers holds an official MOD merchandise licence? That means where a design includes an MOD ship or unit insignia, we can produce it under the appropriate licence and approval process.

From the quality of the embroidery to the construction of the finished cummerbund, it's something we take seriously.

And there are plenty more coming...

We already have five more ship's cummerbund orders lined up over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out. 👀
