🔌 Your EV battery and your dashboard are both quietly being annihilated by the sun.

For EVs and hybrids, sustained heat ages the traction battery faster than cold ever will. Rapid charging in a heatwave may be throttled — that's the car protecting itself, not the charger being lazy. Park in shade. Don't leave it sat at 100% baking in the sun like a forgotten ready meal.

For every car, cabin temperatures can hit 60°C+ in summer. That's not "warm." That's "actively cooking your dashboard." Cue cracked plastic, faded seats, yellowed headlights, and a steering wheel you can only touch with oven gloves.

Quick wins:

Get a windscreen sunshade (yes, even in the UK — especially in the UK, the one week a year it matters)
Park in shade when you can
Clean and protect plastic trim and headlights once a year
Wax or seal the paint before summer

A healthy A/C should hit you with proper cold air within a minute. Anything less and your system is gently leaking refrigerant, the compressor is having a midlife crisis, or the condenser is full of three summers' worth of motorway flies.

Bonus fact: A/C also dries the air. Ignore it now and your December windscreen will look like the inside of a kettle.

Quick check: A re-gas and leak check is £60–£90 at most garages. Roughly one tank of fuel. Considerably less than a new compressor and a divorce-level argument about who left the windows up.

Your clutch doesn’t always fail loudly… sometimes it just starts sending tiny signals.
