Folegrandos is known locally as the ‘island of peace’ and if you’re seeking a low tourist, truly authentic Greek experience, this island will tick all your boxes.

Accessible by ferry from Santorini, Milos and Piraeus (Athen’s port), this is just one of the quiet corners of Greece where you can explore and relax without the crowds.

But, don’t assume that islands like these require a downgrade in accommodation or service.

I work with a specialist provider for this part of the world who have a wonderful collection of properties, from boutique villas to the exclusive, luxury retreat of Gundari in Folegrandos that everyone wants to keep as their own secret.

If you’re keen to enjoy the quieter Greek islands, get in touch and let me help you plan a serene escape.

How lucky are we with the weather this May half-term?

For those of you who’ve chosen to stay at home, or even in the UK, you won the weather lottery this time! But October half-term will be a little chillier and it’s such a great chance to catch a family break before we head into the colder, darker months.

Here are my favourite places to take the family for the October half term with reliably good weather.

Cape Town is not only a terrific destination for the climate, culture and food - but the minor variation in time difference to the UK means you’re less likely to deal with jet lag.

Whilst Cape Town offers an incredible amount of choice in terms of activities, there are also some wonderful luxury hotel resorts that have tailored facilities for every member of your family. The One & Only and The Twelve Apostles both have fantastic family packages.

The Maldives has such a wide range of luxury options with services and activities that will keep everyone in the family happy. Resorts that cater for teens and offer excellent all-inclusive options are a fantastic way to keep those bored minds and ever empty tummies satisfied!

If you prefer to enjoy a more private break with your family, the wealth of villas with private pools and quiet beaches will give you the dedicated break you’re seeking.

My advice would be to start exploring your preferred choices now when you have the best availability and flight options for these longer haul destinations. Give me a call and I can tailor a few options that are right for your family.

For adventure, freedom and the joy of the open road…it has to be Namibia!

With a landscape so wide ranging Namibia is awash with interesting places and thriving wildlife to explore - you can expect to see elephants, lions and black rhinos if you plan your itinerary right.

Namibia is more than just awe inspiring scenery, it’s a country rich in ancient wisdom, tribal culture and a legacy of colonial history.

Planning a self-drive adventure through Namibia is best steered with the help of an experienced personal travel agent.

With my know-how, contacts and love for a little luxury, I can plan you an African adventure like no other!

If like many people you found yourself glued to the Yellowstone TV series, then these ride and recharge holiday destinations might be just the inspiration you need for your next adventure.

Whilst there are many incredible horse riding holiday trails in Montana and other American states, I’m drawn to the beautiful Indonesian resort of NIHI which promises to take you to the edge of wilderness.

Having won ‘Best Hotel in the World’ two years consecutively, you will no doubt have seen their lush, tropical jungle villas posted across social media. NIHI also has their own herd of horses and ponies with whom you can trek, trail and swim. Paradise!

Or, if you’re looking to take a safari experience with a difference, I’d highly recommend the horse safari from Ants Hill in South Africa. With over 120 horses in their herd, the Ants Hill team takes great care to match the rider with the horse, to give you the best experience.

Argentina is of course another country renowned for epic horse experiences. And with their terrific steaks, wine and dancing, I can plan a truly eclectic holiday in this South American hotspot for you.

For the discerning traveller and curious explorer, South Korea offers a holiday steeped in ancient culture and fast technology.

If you’ve enjoyed Japan and other East-Asian countries, South Korea sits within a similar theme but sings to its own tune (quite literally with the popularity of K-Pop!).

The fast-paced, bright lights of Seoul are a must. You’ll enjoy incredible restaurants, unbelievable shopping and the vibrancy of this capital city.

Korea’s high-speed KTX rail network is among the finest in the world and extraordinarily fast, making it a great way to explore the country. Seoul to Busan is a 400km journey that takes just over 2 hours!

I’d highly recommend taking in Gyeongju, Korea's ancient Silla capital, full of royal tombs and temples, before continuing to Jeju Island. Jeju Island is South Korea's largest island and is often described as the country's most naturally spectacular destination.

With plenty of high-end resort properties, spas and boutique hotels, it’s the perfect destination to complete your tour of South Korea.

If you’re keen to explore this part of Asia there are definitely some optimum seasons for travel. Get in touch, I’d love to help you plan your South Korean adventure.

The locals call it Mosi-oa-Tunya - the smoke that thunders, but it is more likely that you know it as Victoria Falls.

I adore planning Victoria Falls into my customer’s travel itineraries. Nestled between Zimbabwe and Zambia there are so many ways you can enjoy this natural wonder, and so many incredible places to travel to before and after.

When you travel makes a difference.

The water offers its most dramatic peak between February and May with high and fast water levels. Choose the dry season of June to October to enjoy the animals gathering. For travellers wishing to experience the adrenaline rush of swimming in Devil’s Pond, September to January is when the water levels are at their best.

Naturally, I can help you determine the best travel times for the African experience you’re looking for as well as the very best accommodation and travel arrangements.

There are a lot of anxiety-inducing headlines and social media content currently, reporting things that are causing problems for travellers.

But I come bearing some good news. Let me start by setting the scene.

The rise of AirBnB and other services has encouraged holidaymakers and travellers to source and book their travel and accommodation arrangements independently. Which can offer some savings some of the time.

However, the cost comes with a lack of protection which can leave you exposed to financial loss if travel disruptions occur, not to mention the personal stress of being your own travel agent in these unexpected moments.

Package Travel Regulations protect customers. For example if a flight is amended or cancelled, the tour operator is required to manage the purchased itinerary or offer a refund.

As your personal travel agent, I work with you and your party alongside the tour operator and travel providers to manage these unexpected moments, find resolutions and reduce potential stress.

ABTA, IATA and ATOL bonded travel operators (such as myself) give you a greater peace of mind that your booking is secure and protected.

To give yourself a greater reassurance that your booking is protected I would always recommend booking with a travel agent.

Corsica is often called the Isle of Beauty and for me, it is the quieter but equally charming cousin of the French Riviera.

With 80% of the annual 3.9 million visitors to Corsica arriving during July and August, this quiet Mediterranean haven can be enjoyed with even more peace in June and September.

A little tip: There are some incredible ultra-luxury properties tucked into the wild landscape where you can enjoy the scented shrubland (maquis) in bloom during May and June.

Spas in Corsica often offer treatments using locally distilled essential oils from this shrubland providing a beautiful way to relax even further into the nature of the island.

The marina at Bonifacio is one of the world’s most exclusive with a very limited number of highly coveted berths for superyachts. A day of yacht spotting followed by a tour of the citadel and a tasting of Corsican wines like Patrimonio in a medieval cellar makes for a terrific taste of this blended island.

For me, Corsica is the Riviera without the rush. With a wealth of thoughtful, luxury accommodations to choose from, it offers the perfect holiday for couples, friends and families.

Where can you travel with your four-legged friend? Happy holidays are happier with your four-legged friend.

British holiday bookings have been given a real boost this year.

Things I love about a staycation.
🌳 Exploring areas I’ve seen and read about and discovering new places that are off the beaten track.
🚗 No fuss travel. Just hit the road, take the scenic route and stop as often as you like.
🐶 And, of course, taking my beloved four-legged friend on new adventures with me.

Many requests have arrived at my inbox looking for a luxury or alternative staycation that can accommodate the family dog.

If you have spent any time along the Norfolk or Suffolk coastlines or staycation favourite Cornwall, you’ll have spotted just how accommodating these tourist hotspots are of dogs with dog-friendly menus, treat jars and fresh water topped up throughout the day.

I have access to so many unique and interesting properties for staycations throughout the UK that welcome families and dogs.

Properties with pools, games rooms, close to the beach or immersed in woodland…whatever you’re looking for to make a staycation sublime, I’ll find the perfect one for you.

Why do I love the British Virgin islands?

After enjoying a wonderful holiday here myself I can tell you that this is a place that’s absolutely worth the extra travel. The British Virgin islands deliver a Caribbean experience without the crowds.

With white-powder sand beaches and lush tropical forests, these islands feel a million miles from anywhere while still offering the most incredible facilities and service.

Guana Island is one of the few remaining privately owned islands in the world and I loved taking the boat for the final part of the journey. After flying over the islands, this gives you a beautiful view of the island from the water for your arrival.

⭐ Travel tip! Close to the arrival airport at Tortola is Marche Bar.

Perfectly situated on the jetty and is celebrated for its cocktails, sushi and teppanyaki. Sink your feet into the warm sand and shake off the cabin fever from flying with a local drink before stepping aboard your final leg of the journey.

I have many more travel tips and ideas if you’re keen to explore this part of the world - get in touch and let’s start planning your British Virgin Islands adventure.

Have you discovered this hidden gem in Nice?

If you’re a lover of the Cote D’Azur I’m sure you’ll know all the usual travel tips.

🍽️ Booking well ahead for your favourite restaurants such as Flaveur or for events such as the Nice Jazz Festival.
🟡 The best times of day to enjoy the beaches at Antibes.
🍷Where to enjoy the best chilled Rosé.

Nice is a firm favourite of mine, I love to explore this city and its many markets. So when I discovered Houtel Couvent, I was delighted to find that it hosts a monthly farmer’s market within the building!

Hotel Couvent was a former convent and covenant on the 17th century building’s restoration and re-use required the owners to permit the farmer’s market in its courtyard.

How very Niçoise!

The South of France is proving as popular as ever this summer. If you’d like to plan your summer break in France with the help of more personal travel tips like these, get in touch, I’d love to help you.
