A new display has been installed in the waiting room on platform 1 at Haltwhistle Station featuring 19th century posters about travel on the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway.

As we celebrate 200 years of rail travel and Railway200 it's revealing to see that train companies were promoting days out by train then, just as we do today. But in the 1840's there was no TV or radio adverts, no social media, so printed material was important.

The waiting room is open every day so call in and take a look

Railway timetables change for rail routes throughout the country and on the Tyne Valley Railway on Sunday 17 May

Good news! The two stops withdrawn in December 2026 at Haltwhistle have been reinstated.
