For something a little bit different weโ€™re going to share with you the diary of James Atherton - AE Expeditions who yesterday set off towards the Arctic. It was a trip we potentially could have been on but our guests always come first and current demands on the business means we had to give this one a miss! โ€œWe kicked things off with breakfast at our preโ€‘night stay, everyone easing into expedition mode over a coffee. We walked all the way to the airport (over the zebra crossing) which felt like the official start of our voyage โœˆ๏ธ

Check in at the airport was super smooth then a quick 2.5 hour charter flight later, we landed in Longyearbyen. We had a quick tour of coal mines, the Svalbard museum, and a stop at the Svalbard Global Seed Vault plus also spotted some reindeer on the way๐ŸฆŒ

In the afternoon we were aboard the Greg Mortimer. Safety briefings, a lovely dinner, and the lingering Arctic light wrapped up the day. Now all unpacked ready for the week aheadโ„๏ธ๐Ÿปโ€โ„๏ธโ€

Here are the images that show the moment that Royal Caribbean officially took delivery of Legend of the Seas from shipyard Meyer Turku ! Legend of the Seas is now a Royal Caribbean ship and will set sail in just over 2 weeks time when The Cruise Room steps onboard in Malaga!!
