Fantastic weather for our annual Troutflex meeting at the weekend. It's a meeting of Adventure Flexwing pilots from all over the country. An added sparkle this year was a flour bombing competition and spot landing, both proving mega popular before settling in for an evening barbecue,a barrel of Loweswater Gold and a gathering around the fire pit, great craik whilst the sun went down over beautiful Blencathra.Magical evening, great weekend, enjoyed by all!.

'Flying Tv's' R44 departing after a busy day filming the Tour of Britain. It's an amazing bit of kit -almost literaly a flying camera, producing direct feeds for real-time broadcasting...and now just a bit of boring tech stuff. The heli is nose down, leaving the hover for forward flight. The reason for this is to gain an aerodynamic phenomena know as 'Translational lift'.The rotor system is inducing a flow of air down through the rotor system to produce both lift and thrust.Moving slowly forward produces an increased flow of air, increasing the value of both lift and thrust. In certain situations,it's even possible to be able to reduce power in the climb because of Translational lift.......honest!.

Working with vintage tractors this weekend,Andrew with his trusty International 84 Hydro, mole ploughing our rough grazing field at Lofshaw and me using my beloved Grey Fergie T20 to pull the ganger mowers on the airstrip at Berrier.
Andrew's International was built in 1979 and described by those who know, as a 'real tractor' whilst my Fergi was built in 1953 and is a brilliantly simple lightweight working tractor and despite it's age, every farm should have one!.
