Today we removed this 5.0 Mercruiser for some much needed repairs. And whilst out we replaced the transom shield assembly for a brand new one. Once repaired and painted it will be reinstalled ready for the season.

The importance of renewing you manifolds and risers on you Mercruiser and Volvo petrols can’t be stressed enough! Blockages like this one can lead to engine overheating problems. And if the fail completely it can result in water getting into the cylinders and oil system. Both could result in total engine failure and complete engine replacement being required. It is recommended to get these replaced every 3-5years and low hours use can actually cause more corrosion problems. It’s cheaper that a replacement engine.
