We get asked about insurance a lot... and we’re genuinely glad people ask, because “we’re insured” can mean very different things depending on the removals company. So here’s the honest, no-fluff version of how it actually works with us.
Most professional removals insurance in the UK works on set limits. Typically, goods in transit cover up to around £10,000 per load and public liability cover up to £1 million. That’s the baseline cover we operate with, and it’s what most reputable removal firms carry as standard.
However, if you’re moving higher-value items such as designer furniture, expensive tech, antiques, instruments, collections, or anything with a higher replacement value. That standard level of cover might not reflect the true value of what you’re trusting us with. In those cases, the insurance needs to be upgraded specifically for your move, and we’ll always flag this in advance so you can decide what level of cover you’re comfortable with. Any uplift in insurance is charged at cost to the client, with no markup or hidden extras.
Now, here’s the bit that’s very us... and not something you’ll see everywhere. Even though we’re fully insured, we made a conscious decision as a company that we don’t want clients stressed, chasing insurers, filling out forms, or waiting weeks for things to be sorted if something goes wrong. Moving is already stressful enough without adding admin and uncertainty into the mix.
So if we cause damage during your move, we offer same-day compensation. That’s our own policy and our own standard, not something the insurer dictates. It’s our way of taking responsibility there and then, sorting the issue quickly, and letting you get on with settling into your new home instead of worrying about claims processes and paperwork.
Of course, we do everything possible to prevent issues in the first place. We use protective blankets, secure loading methods, and experienced movers. But we’re also realistic enough to say that accidents can happen in any physical job. What matters to us is how we handle it if they do.
For us, insurance is about accountability, transparency, and reducing stress for our clients. If you’ve ever had a move where problems were brushed off or dragged out, we completely understand why you’d be cautious. Ask the questions. Check the cover. And if you want a removals team that owns mistakes and sorts things properly, you’re in safe hands with us.
