The MGM team have been working hard on improving the moorings and looking after our moorers. We are really proud to have achieved new moorings on one whole side of the island. And now we are making the most of the summer months and improving the moorings on the other side of the island.

Absolutely loved having the flower boat up the slipway, we absolutely love this boat so it was a pleasure to work on it.
The following work was undertaken.
• Jet washed the hull.
• J blasted the Hull and gas locker.
• Pit welding on both hull sides.
• Two coats of jotamastic two pack blacking on the hull and in the gas’s locker.
• Six new 2.5kg anodes.

This is a return customer who had his boat blacked a few months ago by us and was so impressed by our service that he booked back in for us to work on the engine bay. The customer is thrilled with the transformation and has booked in for more work to be carried out on his boat.
The work carried out by the team is the following.
• Full engine degreasing and steam cleaning with hot jet wash.
• Engine and engine bay ice blasted.
• Hole welded up in the engine bay that was leaking.
• New w**dhatch lid fabricated and fitted.
• New w**dhatch handle clamps fabricated and fitted.
• Two coats of two pack undercoat paint.
• Two coats of Hempel water and oil resistant engine and bilge paint.
• Replace 12v isolator.
• Fitted wiring loom to battery’s.
• Replaced and wrapped exhaust up to silencer.

We love seeing work done on any boat but it’s lovely to see one if the boaters from the yard make the most if hiring the slipway. The whole of the outside of the boat has had a full paint job.
The following work was done by the MGM team.
• Thoroughly cleaned with our jet wash.
• Pit welding on both hull sides.
• Tiller had new bearing and new bearing mount.
• Two coats of Ballastic black.
• Six new abodes.
• New fender shackles fitted.

This one had lots of work done on it and the transformation was so enjoyable. It was a joint effort by the MGM team and the owners who worked on the boat and made the most of the slipway. After being shot blasted the boat had a full survey requiring a lot of work for the team including the following.
• Ground out and fully welded the split base seams on the port side from the bow.
• Fully welded the plate joints on the uxter plate on both sides of the hull.
• Fully welded the plate joints on, 8mm bar fitted to the join, welded top and bottom, between the uxter and swim plates.
• Pit welded and ground smooth any pitting deeper than 2mm on the hull side plaiting.
• Chopped out and replated the hull side plaiting where it had holes from corrosion in the gas locker.
• welded repair and reinforced the damaged stern post.
• Abrasively prepared and painted the w**d hatch sealing the flange,lid internal and external faces.
• Fitted new w**d hatch lid and replaced the seal.
• Fully welded the ruder tube to the uxter plate.
• Cut off the second lowest rubbing strake on both sides of the bow curves to 2.4m from the bow, removed all corrosion scale and fully welded new rubbing strakes in place.
• Fully welded the lower rubbing stake around the counter stern.
• Cropped out and replated the gas locker base and bulkhead.
• Cavitation plate fitted to the w**d hatch lid.
• Two coats of blacking.
• Six new anode’s fitted.

Introducing Zimo a 49ft cruiser stern narrowboat available for £17,500 including Vat. Full detailed advert on Apollo Duck under MGM.
The team here at MGM have totally transformed this one and have put so much love and effort into this lovely boat and given it a complete makeover.
This boat is a fully refurbished sailaway and ready for someone to put there stamp on the inside.Zimo has been fully over plated by others and after shotblasting was found to be in excellent condition. The hull has been blacked with Jotum two pack and had four anodes welded on. The cabin has been painted using jotum pengaurd primer and two pack polyurethane top coat in this beautiful modern turquoise colour. The whole of the inside of the boat has been shotblasted then painted in jotums primer and the floor has had a coat of two pack blacking. Ballast has been added and new floor joists and then marine ply floor fitted and on the back deck.
New windows have been fitted along with new mushroom vents.
The boat comes with a reconditioned and rebuilt BMC 1.5 diesel engine that is fitted with a drive system shaft and propeller. The engine is bolted down and aligned on the new engine beds, and is supplied with exhaust, morse control and cables it will need fuel system and wiring to complete.
This boat is a sailaway and does not come with a mooring. We have a slipway here on the yard and the boat can be pulled out of the water if required.
This lovely little boat is a really opportunity for some to put there stamp on the inside and have the fun of designing the interior tailored around there individual needs and who sees this lovely boat the way we do here at MGM. For more information please contact us on 0116 264009.

Being on the river soar we do occasionally go into flood. This walkway between these containers is used by the boat moorers here, so the MGM team were busy this week with this extra project around other boatyard duty’s. We added this welded walkway with waterproof anti slip deck boards. We’re really proud of this boatyard improvement. We added this solar light for the middle and will be adding another at the end. With a lovely bird box on this silver birch to support the wildlife in the surrounding nature reserve.

We have just had this lovely boat up the slip for some work. The boat has been jet washed and had two coats of ballistic blacking and eight new anodes put on. The leading edge of the ruder was undersized and an irregular shape causing it to scrape on the skeg. This was reengineered and the rudder now works and the boat handles perfectly .
The engine bay had a full makeover to with a deep steam and jet wash ,and then treated with rust treatment. A new battery tray was constructed and fitted, creating a safe place for the batteries to be secured.The engine bay and bilge has been painted with primer and then had two coats of engine paint totally transforming the engine bay and bilge area. The MGM team really enjoyed working on this boat.
