A message from Pete:

If elected, I pledge to found a new national political party focused on delivering an ambitious new future for Britain.

With mounting traffic and a lack of public parking, Lichfield’s travel infrastructure desperately needs better investment.

But, Britain’s public transport infrastructure as a whole needs serious investment if we're going to ensure competitive fares and equal access for all.

I passionately believe that Britain CAN do better. If we change our approach and put proper planning and investment into our infrastructure, we can avoid the oversights and runaway budgets that have plagued recent projects.

From improving roads to cutting transport times, I’m determined to get Lichfield - and then Britain - moving again.

✅ Campaign to put Lichfield at the heart of HS2 with a new interchange station in Streethay
✅ Give every resident one free rail trip from the new Streethay station once opened
✅ Invest in improving road quality and fixing potholes - not adding more traffic lights
✅ Revitalise our city and town centres with better support and VAT cuts for retailers
✅ Campaign to remove tax for incomes under £20,000 and increase tax for incomes over £150,000 with a new 50% tax band
✅ Campaign to transform our approach to adult social care with creation of a National Care Service which would improve care quality and reduce strain on the NHS

Lichfield’s roads are already in chaos and upcoming road closures are set to bring even more disruption!

"Over the weeks, I’ve spoken with local businesses and heard of the huge impact this is having on city centre footfall.

With mounting traffic and a lack of public parking, Lichfield’s travel infrastructure desperately needs better investment.

The former Tempest Ford site located on the Birmingham road, right in the heart of Lichfield, has sat empty since 2018. This site would have been perfect for utilising as a temporary car park to ease parking pressures and increase footfall.

For yet more roads to be closed while other projects are still ongoing shows a lack of proper planning and practically no consideration for our high street, local businesses and residents.

It’s time for change.

"I'm so disappointed that due to postal issues, my campaign brochure hasn't been received by all households across Lichfield.

Apologies to anyone who is yet to receive theirs. I've organised a slimline version which is now ready to be distributed, so if you're a resident you should receive your copy on Tuesday or Wednesday.

"Our community endured so much disruption to implement phase one, and the cancellation of phase 2 means we have nothing to show for it.

So far, all we've heard are several half-baked alternate ideas and no deadline for resolution. We can't let all of that disruption be for nothing or the estimated £27 billion spent so far go to waste.

If elected, I will tirelessly campaign to bring high speed rail to Lichfield.

We could make better use of Phase 1 services by connecting HS2 with the existing rail network.

Replacing the abandoned Eastern Leg with a new station at Streethay would take services to the East Midlands and beyond using the South Staffordshire line.

This would connect Lichfield with more parts of the country, including the North East via Alrewas and Derby."

Like many other Lichfield residents, Pete has been concerned about HS2 for years.
