Since ancient times people wanted to depict the nature around them, wanted to express their thoughts and themselves. So was the first form of art invented. For centuries it evolved and that is why now we have such famous masterpieces as The Mona Lisa or The Starry Night.

Whisky and art are united in some way. Creating whisky, especially unique, private bottling releases is always about sending a message to other people. Being the result of bringing together the natural ingredients (water, barley, wood), whisky can tell a story input in it by its creator.

Art aims to represent the national character as well. Each country has its own writers, artists and poets (unpopular opinion: poetry always sounds better in its native language). Whisky is sometimes treated as an honest and beautiful picture of Scotland and its people – self-sufficient, bright and unforgettable.

Highlanders and their origin
Recently we have introduced three samples from the MGAW line and there is one thing that unites them all – the distilleries Teaninich, Ardmore and Blair Athol are located in one of the most famous whisky regions of Scotland called the Highlands.

The Teaninich distillery is located a little north of Inverness, and it does not make any official releases of single malts, so offers a great opportunity to try it.

The Ardmore distillery sits at the highest point of the Northern railway line, 600 feet above sea level. The water is still drawn from the naturally rising springs that sit on the 1,500 foot tall Knockandy Hill.

Blair Athol Distillery stands at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands in the picturesque town of Pitlochry, Perthshire. Set in open moorland south of the town, in the foothills of the Grampian mountains, Blair Athol’s ancient source of water – the Allt Dour – flows through the grounds from the slopes of Ben Vrackie.
