American Airlines Boeing 727-223, USAir Boeing 727-227 and United Airlines Boeing 727-222, just three classic examples of the Boeing 727 once operated by US carriers.

The 727 first took to the skies on 9 February 1963, with the stretched 727-200 making its first flight in July 1967. Fitted with three Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines, the distinctive trijet quickly became a mainstay of commercial aviation and a familiar sight at airports across the United States.

Production ran until 1984, with 1,832 Boeing 727s built, securing its place as a true classic of the jet age.

Monarch Airlines Airbus A321-231 G-MARA taking off from Birmingham Airport.

Delivered to Monarch Airlines in March 1999, G-MARA remained with the airline for over 18 years, right up until Monarch ceased operations in October 2017.

The aircraft found a new home with Olympus Airways in April 2018, becoming SX-ABY. It was later placed into storage in October 2019 before being scrapped in October 2020.
