What if the journey itself is part of the service?

We think about community transport in terms of where we're going - but something important happens along the way too.

A familiar driver. A conversation. Seeing the town through the window. A friendly face you've come to recognise.

Research into community transport found the journey itself becomes an important space for social connection, particularly for older people who may otherwise have fewer opportunities to get out and interact.

Our buses are places where people chat, laugh, catch up and enjoy being around other people.

Getting out matters. More than we realise.
Our own passenger feedback tells us why.

62% said that before using our transport they had felt isolated or lonely at least some of the time.

And of those who had experienced loneliness, 88% said our services helped prevent those feelings.

Behind those numbers are real people getting out, seeing friends, joining groups and taking part in community life.

Community transport is part of the social infrastructure of a community.

It's not simply about moving people. It's about helping people participate.

What if the hardest part of going somewhere is getting out of the front door.
For those with mobility difficulties, the journey to a bus stop is a barrier in itself.

Uneven pavements. Distance. Steps. Getting on and off a conventional bus. Small obstacles that add up to a big reason to stay at home.

Community transport is designed to make those journeys easier and more accessible.
And that matters because independence doesn't always mean doing everything without help.

Sometimes it means having the right support to continue doing the things you want to do.

Shopping. Seeing friends. Attending a group. Going on an excursion.

Getting out isn't a small thing. And we make it happen for hundreds of local residents in RBKC and Westminster - so give us a call if we can make your day better: 0208 964 4928

It's not just a bus.

To someone who doesn't get out very often, a community bus can make a massive difference.

It might be a conversation. A familiar face. A catchup on local news, and chit chat, and a chance to see something other than four walls at home. And then there's the practical, someone on board to help, no swift moving off or braking, no uneven edges so you won't be scared of having a fall.

Research has explored how community transport can become an informal "third placeโ€ - somewhere outside home where people encounter others and feel connected.

We think that's worth recognising. Because keeping people mobile isn't only about getting them from A to B. It's about helping people remain part of everyday community life. So if we can help you or someone you know with community transport please get in touch: 0208 964 4928

Shout out to the people who make what we do possible:

Our drivers who make the journeys.

Our volunteers who give their time.

The community groups who bring people together.

Our passengers who make every journey what it is.

And the organisations and funders who help make the service possible.

That's what community looks like: people contributing in different ways, working together to help their neighbours stay connected.

We're grateful to every one of them.

In our latest passenger survey:

62% told us they had felt lonely or isolated at least some of the time before using our transport.

And 88% of those who had experienced loneliness said using our services helped prevent those feelings.

Behind those percentages are people.

People getting out to the shops. Meeting friends. Joining groups. Going on excursions. Getting to appointments.

That's why we measure impact.

Because every number represents a journey, a connection and a person who has been able to take part. We love what we do, community transport changes livesโ˜บ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿซถ

It's easier to show you what our transport makes possible:

๐Ÿ›’ A regular trip to the shops
๐Ÿฅ An important medical appointment
๐ŸŒฟ A day out with friends
๐Ÿ‘ฅ Getting to a local community group
๐Ÿš Helping an organisation bring its members together

Behind every journey is a person. And behind every person is a reason why being able to travel matters.

We believe the best way to talk about our work is to show the difference it makes.

Real journeys. Real people. Real community impact.

It's another week of travelling through the city, our drivers are experts at navigating with London traffic! And we're thankful this fifth heatwave is starting to break up - really looking forward to rain! A big shout out to all our rivers for dealing with this heat!

They keep on working regardless of the weather to make sure our passengers can get the things they need:

A journey to the shops.

A lift to an appointment.

A day out with friends.

Transport can tell you a lot about your community.

Who can get where they need to go.

Who gets to join in.

Who has someone to talk to.

Who might need a little extra help.

Community transport exists because getting around isn't equally easy for everyone.

But it also creates something else: shared journeys, familiar faces, conversations and connections.

That's why we believe transport is part of the community infrastructure that helps people stay independent and involved.

It's not just about moving people.

It's about helping people take part. If you want to take part please get in touch with our friendly team on: 0208 964 4928

A little consideration goes a long way.

Hold the door. Make room. Offer a hand. Say hello. Check that someone is okay.

None of these things takes much effort, but together they create the kind of communities we all want to be part of.

We see these small acts every day through our passengers, drivers, volunteers and the community groups we work with.

Perhaps that's the real unwritten rule: Look out for one another.
