Evergreen Marine Joins Chang Yung-Fa Foundation to Donate Computers to CharityIssued on DEC-29-2021
Evergreen Marine has worked with the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation to organize a number of charity activities in recent years, including One-Day Seafarer camps, an ocean painting contest, seafaring careers seminar, donations of books, and sponsorship of field trips. More recently, Evergreen Marine made a donation of 120 computers to Zhongxin, Meihua, and Waishe elementary schools in Taoyuan, and held a donation ceremony at the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation on November 9, 2021 to mark the occasion.
Meihua Elementary School accepted the donation on behalf all recipients at the ceremony. Executive VP Chia-sheng Tang of Evergreen Marine’s Project Division and Executive Director Demie Chung of the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation were also in attendance.
In his remarks, Executive VP Tang pointed out: “Computers and English are tools the new generation cannot live without, but to some schools suffering from scarce resources, these are problems they must solve. Evergreen Marine has long strived to help narrow the urban-rural gap, and hopes to open different windows of learning for children in remote areas.”
The Chang Yung-Fa Foundation also sponsored the transportation of this donation. Executive Director Demie Chung pointed out: “Environmental awareness has become a universal value, and we should fully abide by our ancestors’ spirit of treasuring all things and making the best use of resources. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the ecosystem of education, and accessibility of computers is a necessity for remote learning. The Foundation is more than happy to help delivering the donated computers to those in need.”
Principal Kuan-chang Chiu noted: “Thanks to Evergreen Marine and the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation for donating computers to our school. This charitable gesture is a sustainable use of resources and fulfills corporate social responsibility. It sets a great example for our children. We will make good use of these computers to motivate students to learn and help teachers to enhance outcomes through digital learning.”
