The Elizabeth Line has transformed journeys across London since it opened in May 2022, but it’s also brought with it improvements at street level.

One example is on Hanover Square, one of the West End’s oldest public spaces, where the eastern ticket hall of Bond Street station now opens onto newly pedestrianised public realm designed by 🚇 🚶‍♀️🌳

You might think the piazza outside BBC Broadcasting House is just for building access, but it’s actually a public street and a handy shortcut from Portland Place to Langham Street. Stroll by and enjoy All Souls’, the last-surviving John Nash church in London, fossils in the Portland Stone walls, the statue of George Orwell, and maybe even spot a newsreader!

A frequent feature on lists of London’s best bookshops, Daunt now has nine branches, but Marylebone was the original. It’s housed in a beautiful Edwardian building, with romcom-perfect wood panelling and glasswork, and the books aren’t bad either – get lost in its huge collection arranged by country rather than genre

Manchester Square, laid out in 1771, is unusual in retaining a mansion house occupying one side: Hertford House, home of the Wallace Collection.

Imagine how much nicer this space would be with less space for cars and more for people. 🚶

By the mid-18th century, Marylebone High Street was attracting fashionable Londoners with its pleasure gardens, and had a distinctive French character derived from its large Huguenot population. Today, engulfed entirely by London, it’s still a popular destination, but now fashionable shops are its main attraction.

🎭 Today, we’re throwing another spotlight on the theatre district in Westminster with magnificent Augustus Harris Memorial at Drury Lane. Known as the “Father of Modern Pantomime,” Harris was a visionary impresario who transformed the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane into a beacon of innovation and entertainment during the Victorian era.

This splendid memorial not only commemorates Harris’s indelible impact on the arts but also serves as an inspiring reminder of the rich history housed within the walls of one of London’s most iconic theatres.

London days don’t get much better than this!

Today, and walked with a fabulous group of photographers from Redbridge, organised by Sylvie Belbouab of . The women usually meet in Valentines Park to walk and take photos, but today they were visiting the Metamorphosis exhibition at .

We decided to take a scenic route and blend the journey into the visit.

It’s a cracking walk if you ever want to try it—through Green Park, past Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park Corner, picturesque streets like Kinnerton Street, and new pedestrian spaces like Motcombe Street and Pavilion Road.

You could probably walk it in 40 minutes, but we took 90 minutes! We were taking photos, chatting, deciding not to spend £7 each on ice cream, peering into exclusive shops, and studying the details of the monuments at Hyde Park Corner. (Enlightening hearing the women’s perspective of these.)

We’ll share some clips of the walk soon. In the meantime, check out the route via the link in our bio.
