Anyone else feeling the Pura Vida this Friday? 🙋♀️We've just caught up with our Expert Ellie, recently back from the blissfully biodiverse gem that is COSTA RICA 🇨🇷 Here she gives the lowdown:
✨ Highlight of your trip?
Saying at Tocu Tented Camp, in the heart of nature. The boat tour was incredible, with a family of white-faced monkeys curiously watching our boat from the trees, alongside colourful birdlife and beautiful scenery around every corner.
I also loved visiting a local coffee farm from Chayote Lodge, where we learned about the coffee-making process and enjoyed stunning countryside views.
In Arenal, seeing sloths in their natural habitat was a real bucket-list moment, while spotting a tapir around Río Celeste felt incredibly special. For a dose of adventure, zip lining through the rainforest in Arenal and tubing along the crystal-clear river near Río Celeste were unforgettable experiences and a fantastic way to experience Costa Rica's wild side.
💡Top tip for first-timers?
Be prepared for every adventure. Costa Rica’s diverse landscapes create a variety of microclimates, meaning sunshine can quickly give way to a tropical shower, so we recommend keeping both sunscreen and a waterproof jacket in your day bag.
🔮 What would you do next time?
I'd love to explore even more of the country, especially the Caribbean coast, which offers its own unique charm and character. From the wildlife and waterways of Tortuguero to the colourful streets, beautiful beaches and relaxed coastal atmosphere around Puerto Viejo, it showcases another side of Costa Rica and looks like the perfect excuse for a return trip.
