Factorydesign were delighted to receive a crystal cabin award in 2024 for our radical approach to sustainable design within aviation.

For this project pairs of existing economy class seats were repurposed and remodelled to create luxury business class seats. This approach was extremely cost efficient and sustainable, as over 70% of existing parts were reused.

Prompted by the potential commercial benefits of long range narrow body aircraft ✈️, over the last few years, Factorydesign have created another business class concept💺 that offers an enhanced experience beyond a standard 2-2 configuration found on narrow body aircraft.

There is a strong opinion in the industry that long-haul single aisle aircraft will be a significant growth area🌱. There is also increasing interest in these aircraft in response to the impact of the pandemic 😷, due to the increased flexibility and route efficiency they can offer. So we believe the single aisle aircraft market will grow significantly in the coming years.

On both sides of the passenger flying on SOLO, there are carefully designed furniture pieces to maximise any space for passenger stowage and useable console surface, taking into consideration the usage requirements of the modern day flyer. We have incorporated some of the latest technology with features such as wireless charging and discrete until lit control buttons. These are discretely located within an elegant curved interface along the top chamfer of the console, giving a place for all the additional functionality options that have been designed into the seat.

Having spotted the potential for long range single-aisle aircraft early on, we were thrilled that Thompson Aero Seating Limited shared our belief and had the vision to develop and market our seat idea to create Vantage SOLO. This vision has been reinforced by the recent emergence of alternative versions of angled single-aisle seats, and other similar products that will inevitably follow.

The product line was designed to have customisable levels of privacy, from open, screened or fully private suites doors to suit the requirements of different customers.
