The Thai hotels we keep recommending 🌴

Our Head of Travel Team, Holly, just got back from two weeks with notes as long as her arm but four hotels deserved a proper write-up. is first up.

It's all about the sweet-spot location: a journalist who travelled with us called it "the Goldilocks of the Thai islands" for good reason. Koh Lanta is one of Thailand's quieter, less developed islands, but it has just enough of a buzz to stop it feeling too isolated.

It won't suit everyone and we're honest about that. Holly says she'd steer honeymooners after a true castaway experience elsewhere but for travellers wanting a proper island wind-down at the end of a trip, it's an excellent choice.

Her top tip: "Sundowners on the beach is a quintessential Thailand ritual not to be missed. Sipping my mango cocktail transported me straight back to my backpacking days, though thankfully I had a considerably more comfortable bed waiting afterwards!"

A secret season in South India...

While most people associate summer in India with monsoon, Tamil Nadu operates on a different rhythm altogether.

Its rainy season runs from October to December (the northeast monsoon, not the southwest).

📅 This means July and August dodge the heavy rainfall, are nice and warm, and genuinely quiet... with less-crowded temples and heritage hotels at much better value.

All in all, a great time to go.
