Christian Peoples Alliance
Back our core values
1. Brexit Honour democracy
The democratic will of the British People must be respected. That means we must honour the 2016 referendum results and leave the European union completely. We have faith in Britain’s ability to thrive s an independent nation with new international trade deals. We would also guarantee a referendum 5-10 years after we have left, so the country can be bought back together when there is evidence of how we have performed outside the EU.
Support Marriage and the Family
Family breakdown has been estimated to ost the tax payer around 48bn per year. That is the required extra costs of tax credits, housing, health, social care, criminal justice and other consequences. We propose a grant of £12,000 to be given to a couple when they are first married, provided they go for at least 5 marriage preparation sessions and £6,000 when their first child is born, also backed up with childcare training. This is to enable everyone to think more about what marriage and raising a family mean before they enter into it. No other party will address this issue.
Protect Unborn Children
Over 9 million unborn children in the UK have lost their lives as a result of the 1967 Abortion Act. We would legally; protect the right to life of the most helpless and vulnerable in society, including the unborn. We would divert the £200 miliion of UK Tax Payers money spent on funding abortion here and abroad onto supporting mothers in crisis pregnancy situations.
Make Tax Fair and Care for the Poor
We would end the scandal of big multi-national companies (e.g. Facebook, Google, Starbucks) sending their UK profits abroad in order to avoid paying their fair share of Tax. By introducing a Turnover Tax (of 5%), offset against Corporation Tax, We would address the dis-advantage faced by British businesses. This would raise an estimated £30bn which we would use to half and restore the commercial rates to revive our city centres (11.5bn), pay for our family policies above (£4bn) and restore the £12bn in Tory benefit cuts by properly funding Universal Credit.
We would help everyone sleeping rough with a free night shelter, meal and the right support to get back into society.
Fight Crime
We would help people leaving prison guarantee them good accommodation and help to get work ans also help to break any addictions. Christian charities like Saltbox in Stoke and The Message Trust in Manchester have got re-offending rates down to around 10% compared with a national average of around 30% but which can be as high as 62%. The result is:-
1. There will be fewer victims.
2. There will be fewer people in court and in prison.
3. Ex prisoners would be happier. It costs around £38,000 per year to keep someone in prison so the is a Win Win Policy.
4. Boris Johnson Build more prisons policy is the wrong approach https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachments_data/file/750185/costs-per-place-costs-per-prisoner-2017-2018summarypd
