Drone Awareness Reminder ๐๐ต
As a protected aerodrome, The London Heliport operates under strict airspace regulations - and that includes drone activity in the surrounding area.
Flying drones near Londonโs busiest heliport isnโt as simple as launching from your garden. When operating unmanned aircraft (drones/SUAs) within our Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ), prior permission is required. Unauthorised flights pose a serious safety risk and may lead to enforcement action.
Key points to remember:
- Always check whether youโre operating within restricted airspace - permission is essential.
- Follow the UK Drone Code: stay below 120m (400ft), keep at least 50m from uninvolved people and 150m from congested areas unless authorised.
- Operations over or near the Thames have additional restrictions - including distance from vessels and notifying the Port of London Authority where necessary.
- If youโre planning aerial filming, photography or survey work near Battersea, please seek approval well in advance.
