It's hard to believe that Railways at Work 2025 ended a week ago! These superb photographs were taken by Andrew Perkins and brilliantly capture the atmosphere of a 1960s working railway.

With Railways at Work 2025 having drawn to a close, we would like to thank everyone who visited, it has been very rewarding to see lots of great comments!

Of course, this event is not just about the trains, it's about the people and stories behind the railway and the event would not be possible without the many volunteers behind the show.

We would like to thank all the re-enactors who attended over the last two days, the road vehicle owners and Mechanical Horse Club, Soul Sauce who provided the sound track to the weekend, Brian Maddison for his fascinating insight to the world of BR diving, Quorn Wagon and Wagon for their impressive array of goods wagons who this event would not have been possible in the first place, and the volunteer staff of the Great Central Railway.

An additional thanks must go to James Poulton for his excellent cinematography for the promotional material and event coverage over the last few years.

Railways at Work will be taking a pause in 2026 whilst members of the team focus on other projects, but who knows what the future holds...

Railways at Work 2025 is this weekend and we have an exciting programme of events!

At Quorn and Woodhouse station expect the usual Pick Up Goods trains and crane lifting demonstrations and a plethora of authentically dressed re-enactors and railway staff.

New for 2025 we have a photographic hour from 4.30pm (Saturday only), this is a chance for any photographers to get "up close" to the goods action as we will be keeping the van doors open, stabling the vehicles and lowering the public barriers for those who wish to get their up close shots.

We are pleased to welcome Brian Maddison this year who was instrumental in the British Railway diving squad, responsible for the upkeep of BR's viaducts, bridges and docksides. As well as bringing a display of his own, he will be giving a talk in the marquee at 2pm and selling copies of his book for charity.

To top it all off we have 1960s music by DJ Soul Sauce and will be playing into the Saturday evening.
