Job description
Busy and growing Industrial Packaging Company located in the Newton Heath of Manchester are seeking a competent human resource officer who will be involved in the general running of the office. The candidate must have strong computer skills, working in primarily in Excel and PowerPoint.
Daily tasks will primarily be within human resource however they will also include supporting the office where necessary as well as managing the compliance requirements for the business.
This position will also be responsible for a number of reports. Managing your time and checking paperwork will be a crucial element of your job and so you must feel comfortable in sending reports on for senior management review.
This role is ideal for someone seeking a varied, busy and rewarding role that offers constant opportunity for development within a commercial setting.
The role is based on working Monday to Friday (9am – 5.30pm) but salary will be based on previous experience.
Responsibility’s
Human Resources – Develop and maintain a HR Management system for the company in line with ISO accreditation. Assisting management to understand and implement policies and procedures. Liaising with those involved in policy areas such as staff performance and health and safety. Recruiting staff; which involves job descriptions, preparing adverts, checking applications and shortlisting for interviews. Developing and implementing policies on issues like working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management.
Preparing Staff handbooks; advising on pay and other remuneration issues.
Administering payroll and maintaining staff records. Interpreting and advising on employment law. Developing HR planning strategies, which consider immediate and long-term staff requirements.
Planning and sometimes delivering training - including inductions for new staff.
Analysing training needs in conjunction with departmental managers. Reporting system to be developed.
Company Compliance – Ensuring the company compliance register is kept up to date and all memberships and training requirements are met.
These include ISO, Environmental, SHEQ, Hazardous Waste Alert Systems, First Aid, Health and Safety.
General Duties:
Telephone System and Service – Ensuring there is sufficient telephone cover at all time. Ensuring calls are answered professionally; ensure messages are passed on efficiently. Ensure BT digital and IP system is working properly, voice messages are in place.
Queries – deal with any general queries that come into the office efficiently.
Emails – manage employee email accounts, forwarders, auto responders etc.
Project Work – Monitor and push project work that has been agreed
Housekeeping – Ensure offices are in a respectable condition at all times, ensuring all filing is up to date and desks are kept tidy.
High Quality of Work – Ensure that all communication/paperwork/correspondence from MDL is of an excellent standard of all time.
Key Requirements
· Previous HR experience
· Compliance experience desirable, however not essential
· Keen to learn new skill
· High attention to detail
· Extensive Microsoft Office knowledge required
· Prioritisation of workload, when managing multiple tasks
