🗑️ A large fly tip dumped in Great Munden has led to a satisfying result after the person responsible was identified, their van seized, and the waste cleared up at their own expense 👏
The incident was reported by a member of the public on Tuesday 24 March, with a full house clearance scattered across both a field and the road 😳
Officers searched through the dumped waste and uncovered paperwork linking it to a London address. Enquiries revealed that an unsuspecting member of the public had paid a company to remove their rubbish, unaware it would be illegally dumped 🚫
Following determined patrol work, the van involved was later spotted on the A406 and stopped 🚓
The driver was dealt with using a Community Resolution and given clear instructions:
✅ Clear the Great Munden fly tip
✅ Clear another site selected by police
✅ Provide proof of lawful disposal
🚐 The van was also seized by officers
Motivated by the loss of the vehicle, the driver returned and cleared the site, with the original victim even watching the clean-up take place and seeing justice done 👍
