New EU Chemicals Rules Set to Streamline Labelling and Compliance
The European Parliament and Council have reached a provisional agreement on a package of reforms aimed at simplifying rules for chemicals, cosmetics, fertilisers, and chemical labelling. While the changes are designed to reduce administrative burdens, they also contain several developments that could affect dangerous goods and chemical supply chains.
One of the most significant updates concerns the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation. The agreement introduces greater flexibility in how hazard information is communicated, including wider use of digital labelling alongside traditional physical labels.
