We are a family run business and have been for over 30 years. Originally started by company owner Jim Gray, it began in Redcar. Mr Gray had one goal to build a successful business and commit himself to his customers and his business. With his determination and ambition, not to mention a memorable and quirky company name, he set about building his dream. It is this commitment and with the support a

nd hard work of his family and team that his business grew and prospered. It is also the reason that 90% of our business comes from our customers recommendation. A number of years ago Mr Gray saw the opportunity to expand his business into the London Market. And went about building Mr Shifter London, sticking to the principles that made his business.

It Isn't Just a Removal 🚚❤️

To us, a removal isn't simply loading a truck, driving somewhere and unloading it again.

It's helping someone leave a home they've lived in for years. It's helping a family settle somewhere new. It's giving a business the space to grow. It's keeping someone's belongings safe in storage while they work out their next step. Sometimes, it's even figuring out how we're going to get a huge hot tub through a tiny gate!

That's why we take every move individually. Big or small, local or international, straightforward or slightly complicated, we bring the same care, experience and good humour to the job. After all, we've been doing this since 1978, and we're still proud every time someone trusts us with their move.

Unloading Day

There is something satisfying about opening the truck doors at the destination after a long journey.

Everything has its place, every item has travelled securely and now it is time to carefully unload and start turning an empty property into a home once again.

By the end of the day, the truck is empty, the customer is settled and another successful move is complete.

For one family, this week's move was about much more than changing address.

Their belongings were beginning a journey overseas as they prepared for an exciting new chapter abroad. While international removals involve additional planning and paperwork, the goal remains exactly the same: getting everything there safely.

Getting a hot tub from one garden to another is never quite as simple as it sounds.

There are gates to measure, pathways to assess and plenty of planning before the lifting even begins. Every move is different, and every property presents its own unique challenges.

Fortunately, the team enjoys a challenge, and by the end of the day the hot tub was ready for its new home.

Nearly 50 Years of Moving People 🚚

We have moved a lot of furniture over the years. But when you think about it, what we're really moving are people's lives.

We've helped families start new chapters, businesses relocate, customers move belongings into storage and people transport their possessions across the country and overseas. We've even had the privilege of moving some rather unusual things along the way!

This commercial move involved relocating a large archive room filled with records collected over decades. Careful labelling and organisation ensured everything remained in order throughout the move.

When information is important, attention to detail becomes just as valuable as careful lifting.

The Office Clear Out

Moving offices often means deciding what is coming along and what is staying behind.

Before this week's relocation, the business took the opportunity to sort through years of paperwork, unused furniture and old equipment. It made the move more efficient and gave the new premises a fresh start from day one.

Export Wrapped and Ready

Not every move ends with a short drive down the road.

This week we spent time carefully export wrapping furniture destined for an overseas shipment. Every item was protected to withstand a much longer journey involving multiple stages of transport before reaching its final destination.

Once the wrapping is complete and the container doors close, there is a real sense of satisfaction knowing everything has been prepared properly for the miles ahead.

The Last Box into Storage

There is always a sense of relief when the final box is placed into storage.

For this customer, it marked the end of a busy few weeks of packing, organising and preparing for their next move. Everything was carefully inventoried and loaded into one of our storage containers, ready for whenever they need it again.

Storage is often a stepping stone between chapters, and we are proud to help customers through that transition.

The Safe Move

At first glance, it just looks like a large metal box.

In reality, moving a safe takes careful planning, specialist equipment and plenty of teamwork. With its weight concentrated into a relatively small footprint, every movement needs to be controlled and deliberate from start to finish.

By the time it was safely loaded and secured, another challenging move was complete. Jobs like this remind us that experience often matters more than strength alone.
