If you use Marston Road in Lidlington, please be aware that preparation works for the new Marston Vale overbridge are starting this month.

The works are an important step towards improving safety and supporting the future upgrade of the Marston Vale Line, with construction of the new overbridge expected to begin in Spring 2027.

Works include:

🚧 From 7 September to 25 September, temporary weekday closures will be required for vegetation clearance
🚧 From 19 October to 20 November, a full closure will be required for essential utility diversion works.

The slides below has the full programme, including a diversion map, dates and working hours👇

Working with Kier Infrastructure, East West Railway Company is using thermal imaging drones to identify and protect ground-nesting birds before archaeological works begin.

The technology can survey large areas in just 2–3 hours, helping teams identify ecological constraints earlier, reduce unnecessary disturbance and vegetation clearance, and plan works with greater certainty.

Weekend works reminder – Bletchley Flyover Bridge

A reminder that works will be taking place this weekend at the Bletchley Flyover Bridge on Saxon Street. This is part of the ongoing preparation to remove the existing bridge and install a new double track bridge next year.

The upcoming works will take place on:
Saturday 15 August and Sunday 16 August: 11:00pm – 11:00am
Sunday 23 August: 7:00am – 7:00pm
Sunday 30 August: 7:00am – 7:00pm

These activities are being carried out within the rail corridor and will not require any road closures. A rail excavator will be used to remove redundant railway track, alongside handheld equipment for vegetation clearance. Our standard weekday working hours remain 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Our partners will continue to do all we can to minimise noise and disruption. Thank you for your patience and understanding while this essential preparatory work takes place.
