We’re not quite sure what the weather has in store for us this week… sunshine, where are you?! ☀️

Thankfully, we did manage to catch one of those beautiful early week sunsets… and it was nothing short of magical and unforgettable 🌅💛

Here’s hoping September brings us some glorious autumn weather, blue skies and plenty of flying for our wonderful students and customers ✈️

We’re looking ahead to an extra-busy autumn here at Atheys Moor, and we couldn’t be more excited. From first flights and unforgettable experiences to student pilots working towards their wings, there’s something incredibly special about watching people discover the freedom of flight.

Atheys moor - Norway 🇳🇴 ✈️ ✨

One week ago Ed and Richard set off from Atheys Moor Flying School on an adventure of a lifetime… destination: Norway! 🇳🇴✈️

Since then, they’ve been hopping between airports, crossing incredible landscapes and experiencing some truly spectacular flying along the way.

From breathtaking views to unforgettable moments in the cockpit, it’s safe to say this has been one epic adventure!

Our founder Ed never fails to inspire us with the incredible places flying can take you. His adventurous spirit and courage to keep exploring remind us exactly why we fell in love with aviation in the first place.

Because learning to fly isn’t just about gaining a licence… it’s about freedom. It’s about adventure.

🌅 ✈️✨ Possibly one of the most breathtaking flights from Atheys Moor… ✨✈️ 🌅

Last night we took to the skies from Atheys Moor, routing over Newcastle Airport and across the heart of our beautiful city!

And then completely unexpectedly, the clouds opened up to reveal the most incredible sunset 🌅✈️

For a few moments everything below disappeared and we were surrounded by golden light, clouds and endless sky.

A view like this can’t really be described. It has to be experienced ❤️

✨💛🌅✈️ Chasing an eclipse 🌅 ✈️ 💛✨
Last night we headed out on an evening flight hoping to catch a glimpse of the eclipse. We didn’t see much of it, but the skies still gave us an unforgettable view!

Flying over beautiful Northumberland, following the coast past the stunning Alnmouth before heading back towards Alnwick and Athey’s Moor Flying School.

There’s something pretty special about seeing Northumberland from above. ❤️

✈️🚗 ATHEY’S MOOR WINGS & WHEELS – WHAT A DAY! 🚗✈️

WOW… what can we say! ❤️

The first Athey’s Moor Wings & Wheels, organised by Athey’s Moor Flying School & WB & Sons Auction House, was an absolutely incredible success, and we genuinely cannot thank everyone enough who helped make it happen.

What started as an idea turned into one of the biggest Wings & Wheels events the North East has ever seen, with thousands of people joining us at Athey’s Moor Airfield for an unforgettable day of aircraft, cars, motorcycles, live music and flying. ✈️🏎‍🟀🏍️🎸

A Huge thank you to Atheys Moor Airfield for allowing us to host such an incredible event!

A massive thank you to all of the Athey’s Moor Airfield members who brought their aircraft out and put them on display. Having such a fantastic variety of aircraft for the public to see up close was a huge part of what made the day so special.

A special thank you also has to go to our amazing pilots, who were taking people into the skies throughout the day on our coastal flight experiences. The feedback we’ve received has been absolutely amazing, and for many people it was their first ever experience in a light aircraft — something we hope they’ll remember for a very long time. ❤️✈️

And then there were the vehicles… WHAT A TURNOUT! 🔥

Thank you to every single person who brought along a car or motorcycle. We had an unbelievable mix of machinery, from a 100-year-old American Dodge right through to a brand-new Lamborghini, and just about everything you could imagine in between! Classics, supercars, American cars, motorcycles, modern performance cars and some truly unique vehicles! You made the show what it was.

🎸 A huge thank you to Derek and Sean from the Rocky Road Band for providing fantastic live music throughout the day and carrying it on into the night. You created an incredible atmosphere around the airfield and were absolutely brilliant.

And somehow, even the weather was on our side! ☀️ We had one little shower, but that certainly wasn't going to stop us!

Most importantly, THANK YOU TO EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO CAME.

Whether you flew in, drove in, rode in, displayed something, volunteered, worked behind the scenes, took a coastal flight, brought the family or simply came along to enjoy the atmosphere — you made the event a success.

Seeing Athey’s Moor Airfield packed with aircraft, incredible vehicles, families and enthusiasts was something very special.

This was the FIRST Wings & Wheels at Athey’s Moor…

But it definitely won't be the last. 👀✈️🚗*
