🚲 WE’RE LOOKING FOR A NEW RIDER

Bud Couriers is looking for a reliable person to join our small Newcastle team.

This isn’t random app-based delivery work. Our routes are planned, the work is consistent, and we deliver for some of the city’s best independent bakeries, cafés, food producers and venues.

You’ll mainly be riding around NE1–NE7 on one of our cargo bikes. The shifts involve early starts, and you’ll need to be available during the week.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is confident cycling around Newcastle
• Is reliable, friendly and good with customers
• Enjoys practical, active work
• Doesn’t mind hills, rain or carrying the occasional mountain of bread
• Has a genuine interest in bikes

£12.71 per hour

Newcastle is planning an 18-month trial of new red routes on Blackett Street and along Newgate Street, Grainger Street, Westgate Road and Neville Street.

The aim is simple: prevent obstructive parking, improve safety and keep buses moving. Existing loading bays will remain, with a new dedicated loading bay planned for Blackett Street.

But the city centre still needs deliveries. Shops, cafés, bakeries and offices need stock arriving every day — the question is how we do that without adding to congestion.

That’s where cargo bikes make sense.

They take up far less road space than vans, produce no tailpipe emissions, make less noise and move reliably through busy streets. They’re ideal for the short, frequent and time-sensitive journeys that make up city-centre delivery work.

Red routes aren’t a free pass for cargo bikes — we still need to stop safely and use permitted loading spaces. But if Newcastle wants a cleaner city that keeps moving, its delivery system needs to fit its streets.

That’s exactly what cargo bikes are built for.
