It takes a couple of days to pack a room. Start off by splitting the contents into potential boxes and then heavy at the bottom. A bit of planning saves breaking backs and ornaments!

When moving out of a rented place, wipe down the skirting boards and other woodwork with diluted fabric conditioner. Makes the place smell fresh and you are more likely to create a good impression!

Dogs and cats get very stressed during moves. Keep their toys and feeding bowls somewhere quiet and don't pack them. Prioritise finding them a safe space at the new home after moving in. Smelly blankets and beds are very comforting.

Tinks can help you with creating your moving schedule, advising on cleaning techiques and getting your deposit back, on sorting things to go and things to get rid.

Tinks provides co-ordination and expert help in self moving. You can give Tinks a shout at any time, but the best time is at least four weeks before your move date.

Tinks will first discuss with you your moving experience, level of involvement, any medical or similar concerns and areas of particular concern.

Following the chat, Tinks will do a walk through of your home with you. During the walk through she will note size of rooms, contents, stuff that is to keep, stuff to get rid of any any particular concerns. She may also take photos with your approval. These will all be destroyed once the move has been completed.

It is then up to you which services you would like to use. Tinks can guide you in sorting out things to keep and to lose, advice on means of disposal, list items on facebook marketplace and/or ebay, provide a moving schedule, find people to help with the move, cleaners, arrange vans and so on. Each service price will be discussed with you and agreed upon.

Tinks can make you move simple, straightforward and less stressful.

Moving - seems simple doesn't it. Pop some stuff into boxes and off you go. Never that easy once you start! Here are 5 top tips to have a great moving day.

Decide what you don't want
It is often easier to get rid of the stuff you don't want. Be hard with you decisions. This is the perfect opportunity to declutter and only keep those things that will make your new place perfect.

Pass on or recycle
You can sell items you don't want on Facebook marketplace, use services like freecycle.org or dispose of at the local recycling and waste disposal centre. Many recycling centres have drop off places for paint that can be used by charities, for good electrical products and other household items too good to skip.

Cull the wardrobe
Moving is a great opportunity to get rid of those old clothes that no longer fit. There are many online services through which you can sell and make a bit of cash.

Clean early
Cleaning your house on moving day is always a chore. Make it less of a problem by getting a jump start on the cleaning. Start off with the rooms you use least. Move your items out into other rooms and give it a deep clean. Close the door and keep it closed.

Take furniture apart
You want as much of your furniture broken down and ready for move day. It is always easier to find the screwdrivers and allen keys when not under a deadline. Make sure all screws, nuts and bolts are sealed into a bag and taped to the furniture. Take lots of photos so you can build it up at the new place.
