Driving and travelling in autumn is, perhaps controversially, nicer than driving in summer... particularly when the van's AC doesn't work properly!
But even the most mundane and unremarkable places are transformed by an explosion of warm colours and there's always something to look at. Shame about the mud and the rain but at least they bring a bit of a challenge with them I guess!

Hello everyone, long time no update!

Time to make it Facebook official: The Big Red Van is now The Moving Man Norwich!
(Page name should change shortly after FB review period)

Some of you will already be aware of this, as I've been operating this way for a few months now but I hadn't got around to updating the page yet, especially as I was waiting for the "new" van to be properly branded which got done a few weeks back.

Sadly, my famous red van died in the spring after a pretty massive and expensive breakdown. I've had a number of red coloured vans now since starting out in 2021 but this time around, my luck was truly out and I couldn't find another suitably sized red one to replace it within my budget.
So, with a heavy heart I've moved on and rebranded, taking on the "family" name: some people may recognise it as my dad has been trading under this name, down in Suffolk, since the mid 2000s. We've somewhat combined forces (while still operating independently) under one well established banner and will continue to offer first rate courier, transport and removal services both local and across the UK.
However please do note that he continues to run his own operations with his own separate page, just to avoid any confusion there.

Everything else remains the same, down to my pricing, so please do get in touch if I can help with:

One of the best things about owning an old-school van again is that every now and then you find yourself in locations and situations that just hit that feeling of nostalgia and yesteryear and the scene just looks straight out of 20 or more years ago.
Case in point, when parked in front of the old Wightman's store in Bungay, Suffolk.
Opened in 1861 and a well known name for generations in the local area, Wightman's was a department store in the rural town which stocked literally everything you could ever possibly imagine, no matter how obscure and outdated. Stepping through its doors was like taking a decades-long step back in time. The store remained family owned right up until the very end, when it sadly closed down in 2024. The business does continue via their flooring, furnishing and carpeting services which towards the end was where 90% of their income was made. However the old department store now lies sadly vacant and decaying, fate unknown.
Seemed only right to capture my own distinctly old-time van parked up alongside, a snapshot of times past, before this local icon is lost forever.
