Another fantastic (return) visitor to Rushcliffe Halt has been announced today!
A Steam Celebration! Tornado joins Flying Scotsman at Great Central Railway (Nottingham) in May 2026.
We’re delighted to announce that one of Britain’s most recognised steam locomotives, Tornado, has joined our Steam Celebration with Flying Scotsman - relaunching the railway after several years of limited operation.
The centrepiece event featuring Tornado comes on May 16th and 17th when the locomotive wil operate over the full length of the GCR(N) for you to enjoy. A model railway exhibition is taking place at the railway’s main station, Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre, Ruddington, during that weekend too. Completing the celebration, Flying Scotsman will be on display and footplate visits will be allowed.
A special Kids for a Quid offer means families can enjoy all these features
All-inclusive tickets for adults are charged at £29.50, including a return trip behind Tornado and other event elements.
Andy Fillingham, Chairman at Great Central Railway (Nottingham), commented “May is shaping up to be an incredible celebration of our railway. Tornado’s addition is a major extra attraction for visitors through May and we’re grateful to its owning trust.”
Olly Edwards, Director & General Manager of Fox & Edwards Events, said “We’re thrilled to be bringing two LNER-designed locomotives to Great Central Railway, Nottingham. We are already preparing for a fantastic month with lots of visitors.”
