Okay folks, the playlist for the Rainbow 3 walk next month is almost completed, with plenty of old school bangers from my time at secondary school between 1999 and 2004. What are your thoughts on it??

I’m also two minutes off at 5hrs 13mins, what song would you add to this playlist from those five years which doesn’t currently feature??

Well now that NCTs latest changes have come to light, there’s quite a few changes to the walks that need to happen!! Hopefully that’s it now before we go live at the end of September 😂

When virtually every NCT route has changes coming up in June including some with route extensions….

More Nikes on order, cheers then folks 🫠😂

Next charity walk has gone live, this one will be covering the original fast Rainbow 3 route from Mansfield to Nottingham via Kirkby and Hucknall, an approximate distance of 16 miles timed at 5hrs 15mins, raising money for the Oliver Shilton Fund.

If you can donate, please do, it's greatly appreciated, thank you.

As an aside, many thanks to Ryan Tranmer for allowing me use of his photo from 2004 in original colours on the right route, appreciate it mate.

This week’s edition was slightly further afield, seeing me complete the original Trent Buses Rainbow 3 by walking Kings Mill Hospital to Kirkby via the A38 and Sutton Parkway Station, then Annesley Cutting to Hucknall National via the A611 Newstead By Pass.

Safe to say I got my steps in today, the final count was just under 22,000.

Here are the photos from along the way:

Okay, so the next one to occur is…. The Rainbow 3!! I’ll be walking the original ‘fast and direct’ 3 from Mansfield to Nottingham via Kirkby and Hucknall on 17/6/26, more on that soon!!

Next proper walk incoming on 17/6/26…. Anyone any ideas?? P.S. It’s not an NCT route for this one 😁

⚠️ Dangerous Walk Alert ⚠️

The final instalment this afternoon which saw me finish the 46, 47 and 61 walks (and Sky Blue altogether!!) was the tough section between Woodborough and Lambley, which boasts almost no footpath, massive hills and blind bends, it’s not even a great road to drive, let alone walk!!

Whoever was out in their tractor earlier though cutting the grass verges, I genuinely appreciate you 🙏

Now these toughies are out of the way, I feel more ready to take on the rest of the 1 between East Leake and Loughborough and the 11 between Gamston and Cropwell Bishop….

Here are the last photos from today between Woodborough and Lambley:

⚠️ Dangerous Walk Alert ⚠️

The next segment took me from Woodborough to Mapperley Plains via Woodborough Hall, Bank Hill, Podders, Traveller’s Rest and Brookfield Garden Centre.

Most of this route is without a footpath, steep sections of road and pretty dicey bends, I would strongly recommend avoid going this way unless you absolutely have to (unless it’s in the car of course).

Here are the photos from Woodborough to Mapperley Plains:

First walk down for the afternoon, a loop of Calverton then the uphill slog to Woodborough, following the 61 route.

Really enjoyed this set of walks, regardless of the difficulty of them. Whilst most of it does have footpath, please do use caution on the bits that don’t, the toughest part of the route in this segment was actually within the 30mph limit of Woodborough!!

Here are the first photos between Calverton and Woodborough:
